Lupe Fiasco has put an end to Adele’s rule at the top of the Billboard 200. The rapper’s ‘Lasers’ album has replaced ’21’ in the #1 spot, preventing the R&B singer from scoring a 3rd week consecutive at the chart’s summit.
Lupe’s ‘Lasers’ enters the tally with over 204k copies sold, outpacing Adele’s ’21’ which sold just over 133k units (down 21%) in the #2 spot. However, Adele has no reason to cry as these figures bring her 3-week total to over 650k, further cementing her title of having the 2011’s best-selling album to date.
Marsha Ambrosius was not as lucky, on the other hand, as ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’ slips to #8 with 41k units sold (down 57%). Still, the former Floetry member still managed to inch pass Justin Bieber’s ‘Never Say Never: the Remixes’ which held the #9 spot with 40k (down 25%).
On the Billboard Hot 100 Lady GaGa’s ‘Born This Way’ continues its reign at the #1 spot for a 5th consecutive week. The track managed to fend off strong competition from Cee-Lo Green’s ‘F*ck You (Forget You)’ at #2 and Katy Perry’s ‘E.T (Ft. Kanye West)’ at #3.
Rihanna’s ‘S&M’ slipped to #4 on the Hot 100, outranking Jennifer Lopez’s ‘On The Floor (Ft. Pitbull)’ at #5 (although ‘On The Floor’ sold another 216k downloads behind only Perry’s ‘E.T’ which sold 216k). Elsewhere on the chart Pink’s ‘F*ckin’ Perfect’ dipped to #6 and Bruno Mars’ ‘Grenade’ fell to #7.
Nonetheless, the real winner on the singles chart this week is Ke$ha who has writing credits on 2 songs in the top 10 – ‘Blow’ at #10 and Britney Spears’ ‘Till the World Ends’ which vaulted from #20 to #9. Just another reason for her to party.
