With a starring role on NBC’s ‘The Voice’, things appear to be looking up for Christina Aguilera. Indeed, while promoting the much hyped show show – which kicks off tomorrow, the singer revealed that she’s in a more positive space.
The last 12 months, which saw her ‘Bionic’ album tank, as well as her marriage and career crumble, have been a learning experience – Aguilera says. One which we’ll see incorprated into her upcoming new LP – which she is already recording.

“The last year has probably, with the divorce and considering everything that’s gone on, has humbled me a little bit,” she says with a laugh.
Aguilera says The Voice represents a new beginning for her in every sense. The concept of the show intrigued her and took her back to why she started singing. “Being in this business for quite a few years now, sometimes you do take things for granted. I’ve had my ups and I’ve had my downs. You have to take the good with the bad in this business. It gets me back to the root of why I got into this business, and that’s real, raw talent,” says Aguilera, 30.
The show films in Los Angeles and has allowed Aguilera to stay near her son, Max, 3, and record her new album. The next release, Aguilera says, will focus on her personal evolution.
“For this one, I really want to make a real rooted, heartfelt record. After someone goes through the things that I have, regarding a divorce, there’s a lot of emotions that are stirred,” she says.
Aguilera, whose towering talent has never been questioned, says she keeps right on going, even when things get tough.
“I prove to myself that I’m stronger than just to let things take over me, and take over my head space,” Aguilera says. “I’m very honest with myself in seeing if there are things that I need to change about my life, or if there are things I need to do stepping forward.
“That’s in part why I got the divorce. It’s a new beginning for me. It’s all positivity for me. I’ve been through some hard things, but I’m on the up and up. “
The advice she would most want to impart to the contestants she’s coaching on her team? To always follow your gut and focus on why you’re making music. It’s not about the freebies or the fame.
“There’s so much in the media and in the press, opportunities to get swayed. That’s why I stay so far away from reading anything about myself.
“I love to sing. It’s what moves me and inspires me. To be able to do that is a gift.”
Kudos to Christina for pressing on. It already looks like she’s on the right path; for, not only is she not waiting another 4 years before serving up another project, she’s appears to be recording music with some depth. After all, ‘Bionic’ was not a bad record – at least not to the degree it was made out to be. However, what was vitally missing was any kind of authentic musical grit; the sort you’d expect from self-appreciative singer-songwriter of Christina’s caliber. Put simply, from the lyrical content, to the production, to the supposed “futuristic” slant, it all seemed somewhat contrived and forced.
While the last few years have seen Christina adamant on changing her sound and image with each project, both she and her team failed to see what made her ‘Stripped’ album her most appreciated to date. Not any gimmick, nor specific sound or look. Rather, it was lyrical depth, honesty, and more over a brand of ‘real’ which allowed tracks like ‘The Voice Within’ to sit effortlessly beside songs such as ‘Dirty’.
Here’s hoping she rediscovers that formula, which – in reality – isn’t a formula at all.

Singing with the same exact tone, placement and style over different beats is not “singing everything”, it isn’t even versatility.

I am turned off by Christina by her behavior attitude and HER FANS. Her fans turn me off more than her attitude or behavior. Why do you guys have to say nasty things about Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Adele etc?? What have they done to u xtina fans that is so bad. Is it that they have been having more success than Christina over the past two years? If thats the case then you have to ask why Christina has not been as successful. Lets start with the fact that Bionic was simply not a good album and that most of her fans (not including the stans) expected something better and perhaps more intellectual. Maybe when Bionic came out they decided not to spend their money on an album they felt was not that good. As I see it that is entirely understandable. People bought the albums of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Adele etc because they felt it was high quality material and they felt comfortable spending money on their materiel.
Nonetheless I would really like to know what Gaga, Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce & Adele did to xtina that was so bad that xtina’s stans need to talk trash about them. I personally think its that Xtina’s stans feel the need to emulate xtina’s attitude. I hope she is right when she says she has learned a lot over the last year.

The fact that Christina overcame these types of disadvantages only proves what kind of heart she has. In fact Christina has been singing all her life about overcoming all odds inspiring others to rise to the challenge. You cannot deny the power of songs like ‘Climb Every Mountain” , ” The Voice Within”, ” Fighter”‘, “Beautiful”, ” and ” Lift Me Up” . There’s a reason why Christina chose to do those songs
Screw the stardom. And who cares if they call Kesha the queen of Pop. As long as Christina keeps writing and performing truly amazing songs of positive inspiration like these people are going to continue to love her for who she is. Christina is the real deal.

If I was an uncompassionate idiot I would laugh at these Xtina Stans but I don’t. I find it sad and pathetic. If anything they have damaged her career. Christina herself should publicly come out and condemn the behavior of her stans and tell them to cut it out. She would be doing herself a big favor.
I remember her Livedaily page. The people there (xtina stans) I came across (as well as on many other sites) seem to me as if they have serious problems. On that sight I saw how the worshiped her like she was God (Godtina). I’ve seen that picture before. Some other artists may have some crazy fans (stans) but they tend not to have as many stans as Xtina. The only one who seems to have more stans than xtina is Britney Spears. The fact that xtina stans have so much free time on their hands is insane. I saw it when her LiveDaily page was still up.

I don’t watch reality TV because I prefer TV shows that are smart and tell an interesting story, I don’t like singing contests because I don’t feel an artist can prove himself/herself in 1 minute with a song they most likely didn’t write or had no part in the creative process of and they feel they are being picked apart by criticism, which is not a good state of mind to perform in.
And if you wanna know, yes indeed, when you are 16 and have hopes and dreams and you realize you were not ready then it’s hard, but indeed I worked worked worked worked on my vocal technique and music theory so I would never make those mistakes again due to not knowing how to use my voice. Now I’m 23, and I write (except for covers), produce, arrange, sequence, play every instrument, mix and master my recordings, and I haven’t even tried shopping a demo around yet until I have a strong enough material put together. That’s the story of it.
But you see, this is not about me as I never brought up my singing or my music throughout this whoooooooooooooooole post and many others, until some AfterLD stalker went digging through my garbage like a raccoon.
But indeed, Simon wasn’t even particularly rude to me, he said “You are just not right for this competition”, and when I asked them what can I improve on Randy said “I don’t know man, I don’t know”, I thanked them for their time and that was it.
Do you know what Simon said about Christina’s butchering of the “Star Spangled Banner”? “It’s like someone sat on a cat”.
So I repeat the question, what is more embarrassing…a 16 year old amateur failing at an audition because of lack of knowledge and nerves, or a 30 year old professional butchering the national anthem in front of 100+ million people?
And indeed because I worked and worked to improve and I have improved to the point I’ve developed a 5+ octave range and perfect pitch, I can speak about technical aspects of singing 🙂
Answer: Butchering National Anthem is the top notch embarrassing moment! NO DOUBT!!!

Just.. prepare yourself in the next time, you always have the opportunity to get up there. and.. not only proves other wrong but prove to yourself that you could get back up there & be stronger, & learn from your mistake.

I bet you’re such a perfectionist & criticism.. & if being judgmental is your thing, no one can change that beside yourself. I was actually a huge huge fan of Christina up till about 5 years ago, I followed her since she first came out with “Reflection” when I was like 12.
I thought she was just absolutely amazing, mainly because I thought to sing powerfully one had to sound as if struggling, but the more I learned about singing I realized that’s not true…and I started to hear more and more flaws in her (LIVE) singing, and once I heard them I couldn’t unhear them, and I just got mad how such an incredible talent is being abused and destroyed due to arrogance…because she simply is too arrogant to take voice lessons so she can learn to better use that amazing gift God gave her.
You know in 2004 she strained her voice recording the song “Hello”, she went to see Seth Riggs who is the most successful voice teacher in hollywood, but after a couple of lessons she quite because she felt the training was taking away that raspy struggling quality to her voice she felt was “souful”.
That is why I can’t stand her stans who cannot recognize she is indeed damaging her voice and have become enablers of her vocal abuse.
So yes, indeed my distaste for her singing comes from disappointment that someone with so much talented could destroy her gift out of arrogance.
And thank you for your kind words, I do know it’s always a difficult ride towards having success, but I don’t ever let anything break me down…at least not for longer than a minute.
And I face a lot of obstacles because first of all I have an accent in english singing, and though I work to pronounce as clearly as possible I cannot get rid of it, and second…well, my voice is one of those love-it-or-hate-it kinda voices, it’s very dark and thick, kinda like Rick Astley/Elvis Presley but cavernous as if singing through a bottle, and the back and forth between pop/rock and operatic placement is not for everybody’s taste…but I got my own style going on, I have a sound all of my own and my music is like nobody else’s right now…a mixture of dance-pop with heavy metal, jazz, and opera.
So because of all those things that could potentially be against me, I work extra hard to make sure every detail is right, and I’m very harsh on myself when I make a mistake so I can keep improving.
Then.. (again my BIG question is) Why you’ve said YOU NEVER FOLLOW her discography??! I’m torn apart, that you knew ALOT of her stuff & claiming as her old fans since Reflection debut. you talked so much about many things (ironically hypocritical wise) & with your arrogance Mr. know it all…
