This award show isnt really about music and albums…..its really about the MUSIC VIDEOS!
In the history of VMAs and I have seen them all since 1984, these are the worst ever. None of the nominations make sense. I remember when they nominated based on the videos themselves, not who was #1 or trendy or cool at the time. It’s like MTV execs didn’t look at any of these videos. They were either paid by record execs or said, “Ooh, this artist is now.”
That saying I like Katy, but I think they picked the wrong video. ET should have been reversed with Firework. Gaga should have been nominated more. Brit’s vids were a slight disappointment despite the hype and the songs being good. Kreayshawn is any 1 hit wonder wannabe rapper from the early 90s. Take your pick, next. What happened to the r&b category? And I can’t believe I’m saying this but why the snub of Rihanna? No offense, I love Adele but Only Girl, What’s My Name and S&M were better videos than Rolling in the Deep. That’s more for VH1 video of the year. I don’t know, some producers must have a grudge. I notice when some of them are into a certain female artist they overdo noms, wins like the year Kelly Clarkson won so many but Gwen Stefani got shunned unfairly. I’m glad All of the Lights got nods. Should have been nom for best video. In terms of creativity, Beastie Boys and Tyler did have the most interesting videos.
