It’s been almost 3 years since the release of Michelle Williams‘ last studio album ‘Unexpected’. Since then the vocal powerhouse has severed tied with manager Mathew Knowles, re-engaged with theatre, and is now making another foray into the world of music.
Currently in the studio with hitmakers Rico Love, Jim Jonsin, among others, Williams says of her new material:
“My album will be ‘inspirational pop.’ Think of Katy Perry’s ‘Fireworks’ or Natasha Beddingfeld’s ‘Unwritten.’ I want to give people a message of hope while at the same time get them moving with dance inspired tracks.”
So as to whet the appetite of fans, the Destiny’s Child anchor has released buzz single ‘Love Gun’ via our good friends over at Concrete Loop.
Take a listen to the Druski produced cut after the jump…
The whimsical cut once again sees Williams flirt with Dance/Pop. However, for yours truly, this is much more commercial and accessible than some of the similar sounding tracks on ‘Unexpected’ – many of which were arguably ahead of their time, hence didn’t strike the chord they could have (not to mention shoddy handling of the project).
Still, in being forward thinking, ‘Gun’ is definitely a step in the right direction for this child of Destiny. One which has us amped to see what she brings with the project as a body of work.
