Less than a month after the release of Kelly Rowland‘s ‘Here I Am’, the singer’s long time collaborator Rico Love has revealed that she is already preparing its follow up – which may be due sooner than you think.
Full details below…
On the new project, Love explained to Rap-Up:
I’m starting Kelly’s new album so, while she’s on tour with Chris brown, I’m gonna be writing records for her new album. We can kinda roll that out and drop her new single in late spring. Excited about that.
Going on to add:
I started her album two-and-a-half years ago, so to be able to get here and see as much success as we’ve seen on this record and album so far is amazing. You put in hard work and it pays off. It sounds cliché, but it’s always good to have that success, especially when people doubted it.
Sam’s 2 Pence:
Interesting. Although not actually that surprising. For, a number of factors indicated this (i.e. a new album) may be a route Rowland and her team would go down in the not-too-distant future.
On the one hand, she gained plenty momentum with the Urban smash ‘Motivation’, a trend which looks set to continue with its follow-up ‘Lay It On Me’ (see: radio play). Hence, in taking a leaf from Rihanna‘s book, it makes sense strike while the iron’s hot.
Then, of course, there are the little-known changes going on at her label Motown. Changes which saw Rowland, as well as a bevy of other acts, silently moved over to sister label Universal Republic. Whether such movements on the corporate back-end are the cause of her scarcity on TV is anyone’s guess. However it certainly makes sense that her team are thinking longtitudinally – by continuing to plug this project, while readying its successor. A successor which will have a clean slate and no promotional roadblocks due to commitments (albeit great ones) such as the X Factor.
