Grammy winning ‘Save Room’ singer John Legend is making room on an already busy schedule to take steps behind-the-scenes on the small screen. As if wrapping up a whirlwind tour with legendary group Sade wasn’t enough, the “Let’s Get Lifted’ hitmaker has now been picked up by NBC.
Deadline reports:
After lengthy negotiations, NBC has closed a deal for Mixed Blessings, a single-camera comedy project executive produced by singer-songwriter John Legend and former NBC executive Teri Weinberg.
Mixed Blessings centers on a prominent, black, street-bred hip-hop artist enjoying his single life who discovers that he has a teenage son and decides to connect with him and his white suburban family.
Congratulations are in order for the crooner who is also said to be readying his fifth album and another foray onto the small screen – a hosting gig as talk show host on Showtime.
I would take him as being a more serious, dramatic type of character (from the type of music that he makes). But if a major network had greenlit a comedy project, he must really be multifaceted. It will interesting to see what he’s creating.
