New Song: Estelle – ‘Thank You’ (New Single / Co-Written By Akon)

Published: Wednesday 14th Sep 2011 by Sam

‘Rocky’ is perhaps the best way to describe the last few years for soulful starlet Estelle. The Brit-bred, US-based singer has, despite dropping many a solid single, struggled to replicate the success of 2008’s ‘American Boy’.

However, in what is looking live a reversal of fortunes, her recent effort ‘Break My Heart (ft. Rick Ross)’ generated quite the buzz, momentum Ms. Swaray will hope continues with its follow-up ‘Thank You’.

Will it do the trick? Listen after the jump…

Solid.

The haunting slow-burner is sublimely produced, evoking emotion in abundance courtesy of Estelle’s vocal delivery – a performance which easily serves as one of her best yet.

Clearly geared towards the Adult Contemporary audience, the chances of this setting Top 40 alight are slim. However, given the US’ accommodating ‘lanes’, there’s every chance this become a staple on R&B radio and charts. Very Sade-esque in the best of ways. We like.
