Rihanna’s hotly anticipated new single ‘We Found Love’ premiered literally seconds ago on the UK’s Capital FM. The Calvin Harris produced cut is the first release to be lifted from the 23 year old’s 6th studio album (in as many years).

First and absolute foremost, kudos to Calvin Harris; the production is simply off the Richter. Yours truly was catching the Holy Ghost during the sped-up post-chorus. A first (and likely, last) for any Rihanna song.
Put simply, ‘Love’ is a freaky fusion between something one would hear at a fun-fair and something that’d be a slam-dunk in the club.
As ever where talent lacks, there’ll always be a gaping fault – which in this case is the track’s lyrics. Empty and mind-numbingly repetitive, this is hands-down the most dumbed-down Fenty cut we’ve been subjected to yet.
However, such a flaw will no doubt serve as a strength in a climate dominated by ‘generic’. Paired with its epic production, this young model may very well be onto another hit. Deserved? No. Factual? Unfortunately, yes.
