One of R&B’s leading freshmen Miguel found favor on singles charts when his hit ‘Sure Thing’ took off. While it’s follow-up ‘Quickie’ did not see much of the same success as quickly, a string of recent promotional treks have found it rebounding on the Hot 100 and R&B singles charts.
Assuredly hoping to give it that extra boost, Miguel has enlisted the skills of supersonic emcee Twista. Putting a new twist on the R&B joint, are they headed for a hit or should they have left well enough alone? You be the judge after the jump:
Twista’s unmistakable flow always adds a bit of -umph to any record he’s on. Even if he isn’t really talking about much, the good thing is you probably wouldn’t know because he’s rapping so fast. As far as the song in its entirety, there is Prince/Raphael Saadiq-esque quality to the original that gave it so much of its own life that maybe a remix wasn’t the way to go. But, in staying true to himself, even the rapper accompanied remix still gives you that smooth, 90s feel that Miguel is growing to be appreciated for.
