Undoubtedly still high from her double win last night at the 2011 American Music Awards, fashion forward femcee Nicki Minaj is moving forward with the successor to her successful #1 debut album ‘Pink Friday’.
Speaking with Cash Money record label CEO Birdman, Billboard got the latest dish on the diva (whose first new single maybe dropping sooner than you think):
On new album: “Nicki’s back in the studio, so we’re looking to drop Nicki in the first quarter [early 2012],” he says.
On new album’s first single: “Maybe this year? I don’t know,” says Birdman. “We’re really thinking it out. But she’s in the studio, and we’re looking real soon, because she’s ready to go and we’re ready to go with her.”

The news follows reports that, following their stageblazing performance of “Turn Me On” at the AMAs, Minaj would be joining super DJ David Guetta for the shooting of a visual to accompanying the cut. ‘Turn Me On’ is one of two Minaj-assisted tracks listed on the DJ’s ‘Nothing But the Beat’ album. PINK FRIDAY is onika(here i am, save, right thru me, etc), and her cousins, uncles, and brothers havent made an appearance in any track on that album, except Romans Revenge. So thats prolly in the sophmore. Cuz member she goin’ back to that “spittier” shiz.

Nicki’s album sold more than Rihanna on billboard. Remember Rihanna’s came out a week before Nicki’s.
Rihanna sold more worldwide because she’s been overseas way more than Nicki. Nicki hasn’t been touring and stuff or even been overseas much. rihanna has been going there heavy every since she did those big tours with Chris, several years ago. This is Nicki’s DEBUT. This is Rihanna’s 5th or 6th CD.
Nicki is the only female rapper doing those numbers.

Nicki is awesome but that song is complete garbage. I’m disappointed they are making a video to it.
But I hope this next album goes hard. Pink Friday was an okay album for her first. A little bit more poppier than I expected but I’m glad she’s gotten crossover appeal so now the masses will see where she take her next sophomore album.
