Quote Of The Day: Diamond – “BET Fix Their Awards So Nicki Minaj Can Win Them’

Published: Friday 11th Nov 2011 by David

Another day, another Nicki Minaj critic.

In what will be sure to strike up debate hotter than Hades itself, the female Rapper Diamond has made quite the statement with regards to Nicki Minaj‘s relationship with BET and its Vice President Stephen Hill.

In her opinion, the many awards the network  have bestowed her with have nothing to do with talent, but everything to do with business.

Speaking to Power 105.1  the aspiring star revealed:

It was fixed for her (Nicki) to win in the Best Female Rap category at the 2011 Bet Awards.

My whole thing was- I was blessed to be nominated. I’ve been doing this for a long time so it was just cool to be recognized.

While there is no denying that Minaj  has very healthy business dealings with BET,  Diamond’s point would hold value if her  impact on black music wasn’t so undeniable.

Without a doubt, Nicki is the one of  most groundbreaking Rappers the world of Pop has ever been introduced to,  rightly or wrongly using her assets (talent, beauty and all) to surpass the achievements of most of her female Rap contemporaries.

A difficult pill for many to swallow, she is  the ‘smartest female Rapper’ to debut within the last ten years.

This by no means makes her the best lyricist, but it does place her miles above the likes of Diamond, Lola Monroe and Lil Kim, all of who lack the ‘It Girl’ characteristics and the marketing know how that make her so popular and thus gives BET no choice but to support her cause.
