Following the global success of ‘What’s My Name’, anticipation was naturally fever-pitch for Drake and Rihanna‘s latest collaborative effort – which manifested today in the form of ‘Take Care’.
The title track from the Hip Hop star’s sophomore set, the hard-hitting cut awaits after the jump…
Easily the most solid effort we’ve heard yet from an album which, for all its preceding buzz, was shaping up to be somewhat uneventful on the material front.
From the lush piano led production, to Dance sprinklings, to the incorporation of African Talking drums, the track is conceptually a winner from the jump. What’s more, it’s lyrical dexterity – which tells a tale of love lost and a love desired – is perhaps the most qualitative a collabo both Aubrey and Fenty have embarked on thus far.
If there exists one critique for the otherwise stellar cut, it’s that it’s excruciatingly apparent that the pair’s vocals have been baked, fried, and sizzled in many a flavour of autotune, which makes the thought of hearing the hook live rather frightening.
Still, radio is where these two are best suited, and on the merit of this track, there’ll be garnering plenty of there for some time yet.
