When queens collide! Ye should prepare yourselves for royal entertainment!
Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige‘s unceremonious snubbing from the 2012 Academy Awards nominations has caused quite an uproar with fans and industry insiders alike. Never shy on a matter, Mary took to Twitter Tuesday to voice her own displeasure with the diss.
Despite making rounds for ‘The Living Proof’ – her acclaimed inclusion on ‘The Help’ soundtrack, Mary is still moving on the promo trail for her ‘My Life II’ set. Spotted on Bravo’s ‘Watch What Happens Live’ last night, the New York native was quizzed on a number of topics including her album, the Oscar snub, her thoughts on young R&B (Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Chris Brown, etc), and the dueling divas – Madonna and Elton John.
Fans may recall that Madonna’s ‘Masterpiece’ recently bested both Blige and John for ‘Best Original Song’ at its own 2012 ceremony. And, with Blige and John sharing mutual support and multiple duets in the past, spectators have long sought the R&B beauty’s thoughts on the longstanding Madge and Elton beef.
In this hilarious interview, you can find out the ‘No More Drama’ diva’s view on the drama after the jump:
On Madge/Elton (source):
“I love Elton. Elton is my friend for real,” said Blige. “I don’t know Madonna. So I would never say anything negative about her.”

@Lacefronce…….Lmao…What oscar? The only oscar shes gonna see is playing an w**** and untalented singer n a movie. Shes been one all her life, so she got the experience.
Maybe I missed it but she didn’t talk about Elton nor Madonna during this interview did she?
@Teflon Boy all she said was that she loved Elton very much & they are close , she’s never met Madonna Before but she’s neutral about the situation.

Bless her heart Mary J was hit with a “reality check”….she will forever be a black woman who happened to cross over with her superstar status. The fact that she actually felt she had hit the mainstream level of obtaining an academy nom is hilarious not to mention the song really does suck IMO. Mary got caught up in her fame and forget no matter how much you achieve in your music career you will be seen as black woman….Never fret Mary better luck next time around you do have Nina Simone coming up put your all in it and maybe you will be acknowledged at that time.
@DEVEAL2014…, thanks for clearing that up:)
