All hail the Adult Contemporary female!

Indeed, following the continued success of Adele‘s ‘21‘ and the buzz surrounding Emeli Sande‘s ‘Our Version Of Events‘, it seems the once overlooked sect is making a comeback, with Lana Del Rey being the latest act to benefit from this trend.

For, despite a number of criticisms she has faced in recent weeks,  her new album ‘Born To Die‘ is the UK #1.

Beating Jessie J, Adele and Coldplay to the top spot, Rey’s ‘Born To Die‘ is the highest selling LP in the country this week, despite its single ‘Video Games‘ coming in at less than stellar #17.

This, following the starlet’s recent appearance on ‘Letterman‘ which saw her perform the cut in support of the LP’s US release nights ago.

Elsewhere on the chart, Drake‘s ‘Take Care‘ rises six places to #19 while Rihanna‘s ‘Talk That Talk’ is  #21 for a second week, one spot below Adele’s ‘19‘.

Lady GaGa‘s ‘Born This Way’ drops 3 spots to #23, two places above Katy Perry‘s ‘Teenage Dream‘ which comes in at #25.

Meanwhile, Beyonce’s ‘4‘ falls by 14 spots to #26  after 32 weeks on the chart and now resides 3 spots above Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ which holds court at #29, one position beneath ‘Heaven‘ by Rebecca Ferguson.

Hours before she takes to the Superbowl 2012 stage, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday‘ rises to #52 after spending last week at #61 placing it above GaGa’s ‘The Fame‘ which has now spent a whopping 160 weeks on the chart.

Back to Beyonce, her fans will be pleased to know that her 2008 effort  ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce‘ rose by 14 places since last week, 166 weeks after making its debut.

Well done to all!
