Leona Enlists Rihanna Hit Maker For ‘Glassheart’

Published: Sunday 26th Feb 2012 by David

This November, after what seems like an eternity, Leona will release her third studio album ‘Glassheart‘.

With confirmed production from Emeli Sande, Will.I.Am and Sandy Vee, the project’s sound- much like Lewis’ career- following reports the star was taking a more upbeat route for the project, a far cry from her previous studio efforts.

Now, in what serves as basis for these reports, Calvin Harris has signed onto to work the LP, months after rocketing to #1 with Rihanna‘s ‘We Found Love’.

Details below…

Seattle Weekly explains:

In the US, the Scottish DJ, producer and songwriter Harris is best known for ‘We Found Love’, the monster smash he created for Rihanna that’s still sitting way up there on the Billboard charts after 21 weeks.

More recently, he contributed a track called ‘You’ve Messed Up’ to Leona Lewis’ upcoming third record, ‘Glassheart’.

Harris’ solo work is better known in his native UK; he’s released two records and is currently working on a third, about which little is known–no title or firm release date–other than that it will include his collaboration with Kelis, ‘Bounce’, as well as ‘Feel So Close’. ‘

Though we’re sure ‘Messed Up’ sounds great, we’re not sure why Lewis is embracing Dance when the Adult Contemporary market is where she should be heading.

Because- and forgive us for this lazy comparison- if anybody is to join Adele in flying the flag for ballads it is Lewis, especially now that the Hot 100 is saturated with club-centric lullaby’s that do nothing for the LPs they are in support of.

I want her to get rid of her accent and to start watching Whitney Houston’s interviews.

A biopic will be in the works soon, playing Whitney would be the highlight of her career.

She has the looks, she has the voice, she has the class, she can pull this up.

    @MISHKA

And since when was it important for her not to have a British accent?

The Beatles had strong Liverpudlian accents and still hold the record for most number ones on the Billboard Hot 100.

And Adele has one of the strongest, common sounding North London accents I have ever heard. Need I say more…?

Leona already had a 4x platinum selling #1 single and #1 album in America… So how is her accent an issue? Stop attempting to make your own pet peeves relevant… They aren’t.

Go Leona, I think she should do a mixed album.
    Love Leona, she rocks!

She’s an obvious choice for a Whitney biopic hence she should start preparing herself by working on her accent. How dumb could I be to ask somebody to lose her accent just for songs? Use some common sense.

eternal voice for such a boring lady

@mischa go and sit down somewhere….she does not need to loose her accent , I mean look at Adele and her accent with her record sales then comeback and coment.

Leona don’t let them ruin you with s*** dance music. If your new album will have dance-pop songs they need to be monsters!! You got a voice nobody else has, you could sing a b**** under the table. Don’t let them ruin you!!!!! We love the ballads, bring us ballads!

Hopefully she will have a good balance of uptempos/ballads, she has been taking FOREVER to make this album, so it better be worth the wait.

C’mon Leona show us what you’ve got!

She’s actually been working with Adele’s producers on tracks so she probably will continue that sound. As of right now, I don’t think anything is confirmed for the track as she’s still writing/recording new material.

And the accent thing is ridiculous. Most people I’ve seen comment about her accent actually love it.

What @mischa is saing is she should work on her accent to play Whitney in a movie. Not for her music. For an acting career, I cant wait for Leona’s new album cause that ep is not going to hold me over much longer girl

She needs to find a lane and stay there. At the moment she’s swerving all over the gaff and is going to end up having a car crash.
Adele sold millions of records doing her thing and it seems as if Leona doesn’t know what her thing is so i desperately trying to work with hit makers instead of setting a trend. The only thing leona needs to do is stop being a bore vocally (apart from bleeding love) her vocals are like painting by numbers. She has a good voice but it lacks inspiration or excitement.
She shouldn’t play Whitney, her voice doesn’t vary in tone to play Whitney. Lets not go anywhere near there

Everytime Rihanna works with a team, suddenly everybody hops that d***. Talk about a trailblazer. J.R., Stargate, The Dream, Calvin Harris. All became famous after hits with RIHANNA.

  16. SHUH! February 27, 2012

@JER – Oh please Sit down it aint about Rihanna, she wasn’t the first to work with these artists. Calvin Harris is huge in the UK, and Kelis got in there before Rihanna. Ne-Yo got with Stargate first and Stargate have done more with Ne-Yo and Beyonce than Rihanna. The-Dream is better known for working with Beyonce. J.R is better known for Jason Derulo, he only did one song for Rihanna. S*** why doesn’t Rihanna hop of of Beyonce’s musical d***. Rihanna does s*** all on an album a part from Lay vocals! At least Leona co-writes half of her album and can actually sing a song without getting her tits out for sales!
