In Rihanna‘s world, a new year isn’t only a time for fresh starts but for fresh music.
Indeed, as has always been the case with the star, just as fans are digesting one LP, she announces that its follow up is on its way.
So it should come as no surprise that despite releasing ‘Talk That Talk’ in November 2011, she has contacted Brit producers Chase’N’Status, in a bid to kick off a brand new project.
Details below…
Seeing as ‘Talk’ has only sold around 650k since November and has failed to spawn another #1 single after ‘We Found Love’, we’re not surprised Fenty is so eager to overshadow it with a new LP.
Of course, while this album is likely to suffer a similar fate if released too soon, we’d actually welcome the project if it featured material worthy of the singer’s enormous hype. But we doubt it will.
Because, if the last few years have proven anything, it is that Fenty has no real interest in creating a ‘Bedtime Stories‘ or ‘Dangerously In Love‘, or even attempt to.
This, being they very reason she churns out projects at the rate she does, confusing reinvention with knee jerk marketing decisions.
Either way, here’s to hoping this new album hits shelves before 2013. For if it doesn’t, it may find itself consumed by the monster Beyonce’s new campaign is shaping out to be. And that’s the last thing she needs.
