Having been shut out from all the major categories at the Grammy Awards last week, the team behind Pop force Rihanna channeling their energies into her next studio release.
Set to serve as her 7th release in as many years, recording has reportedly begun for the as yet untitled project.
Details after the jump…
Taking to Twitter this morning, the day of her 24th birthday, the model wrote:
“Brit rehearsal went smoove! Next stop, set up studio in a hotel room. Brits rehearsal was #FAWESOME I’ll be turning 24 making mu$ic!!! (sic)”
While some sects of the media stay hailing this nonsensical trend, it’s the enlightened few who realise it’s exactly this that’s seeing the industry eat itself.
Instead of acts taking their time to cook a seasoned product, they are -much like Ms. Fenty- warming up pre-made material in the mircowave and snatching it out at an increasingly ferocious rate. I mean Rihanna’s latest effort ‘Talk That Talk’ only hit stores last November.
The music business is just that: a business. Hence, making that coin will always be top priority for labels. Yet, surely teams such as the one behind RiRi would rake in much more if they saved their promo coins and used them to get her some vocal classes. For, while the pay off may take some time, it’s been proven time in and out that the public are willing to invest (on mass) in artists with actual talent – ala the Adele‘s, Beyonce‘s, and GaGa‘s of the world.
Pending then, they’ll likely stay pumping dollars into projects that her talent can’t mobilise. I mean it says something when Beyonce’s pregnant-pushed ‘4’ is selling the same as ‘Talk That Talk’ – which was backed by a mammoth campaign. Proving yet again, that candy coloured wigs can only take you so far.
