Hip-Hop newcomer Azealia Banks has seen her “buzz” land her many things, namely a record contract with Interscope, support from the likes of Kanye West and now a feature in GQ.
The femcee, who has seen her song ‘212’ go viral, strikes many a playful pose in the latest issue of the mens mag, and also talked to the publication about her rise and inspirations.
Check out her “interesting” soundbites below…
On the attention she and her music have received: “I definitely have more money and shit, but that’s all virtual stuff. I’ve been making music for a while. And I could read about myself on the Internet for a while.”
…on meeting Kanye West and other celebrity fans: “It’s cool, but they’re just people. The skies don’t part and glow orange.”
…on who she looks to for inspiration: “Everyone. …Azealia Banks.”

Any new artist who can have etched her name into Pop consciousness this early is likely poised for big things. Nicki Minaj‘s success has truly ushered in the return to prominence of the “femcee”. Here’s hoping this new crop of ladies grab the opportunity by the weave and work it like their careers depend on it. After all, it quite literally does.
