Winning: Alexandra Burke’s ‘Elephant’ Soars On UK Chart

Published: Sunday 18th Mar 2012 by David

Congratulations are most certainly in order for Alexandra Burke.

For, in what can only prove her worth as a commercial act, her latest single ‘Elephant‘ has debuted at #3 on the UK singles chart, and #1 in the country’s dance chart.

More below…

The lesson to be learned here is this:

In the face of adversity, nothing beats the power of a loyal fan base and in tact team.

This, as we can we all see, is the case with ‘Elephant‘.

For, in what we hope is lesson to many of Pop’s lessors, embracing and engaging with your fans is the best way to get the most out of them.

While this isn’t always the case- see Britney Spears– it is the reason Alex has scored a Top 3 single despite the ‘political hoo has’ that once threatened to plague her project.

So, with single #2 on its way, here’s to her continued success and an album which will leave her naysayers dazed, dumbfounded and confused.

Elsewhere on the chart, Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships‘ is this week’s #2, extending her lead as the highest charting Female Rapper in UK history.

Doesn’t Britney get number ONE singles… Is that not a BAD example… Is there nothing that this site does which does not include throwing shade the WRONG artists…

Men I wasn’t the biggest fan of Elephant but this girl has impressed me with her ‘hussle’…well done alexandra…big achievement with people lining up to kick you!

Lesson: you gotta keep going so you’re winning!

Congratulations Alexandra, a no 3 against all the odds and they certainly were against you, but us fans supporting you 100% is a big thank you for never forgetting your fans and showing us as much loyality as we’ve shown to you.
Looking forward to your next single.

I’m not a fan of Elephant but am a fan of her talent. I find it strange that she won the xfactor with praise from industry insiders and as soon as it finished she was thrown on the fire being dismissed by radio 1, the public turning and various media outlets throwing shade, but Alexandra held her head up, kept going and kept doing her and i have to respect her for that. I wish jer all the best and continue to do so.

Elephant is a heavy flop. It was released in a dead week with no competition in sight and only managed to chart at number 3. It’s already out of itunes top 10.

People keep saying there was controversy behind this album. What was it?

  10. Beangelic1000 March 18, 2012

Lennox, that is the whole point, have you not read what was written. Elephant is not a flop, it is a triumph because every song in the top tweny except one got 24/7 airplay. And the one song that didn’t was Elephant, yet it still managed to get to no 3 on the singles chart. The no 1 and no 2 songs were played to death on the radio stations. It got to the positon it did in both charts because of the fanbase. If you think I’m joking go look at the airplay stats.

What is going on with alex over there? Why isn’t radio 1 playing her song? I am happy for her cause that just shows that with support , blessings can happen. Congrats!
