as for this post, it’s really disappointing how Bey and her team have handled this single. i had such high hopes …. with the remix competition and all. i dont wanna say too much though, there may be hope yet for it in the US and rest of the world but its chances are def ruined it in the UK. i dunno whose idea it was to release an EP in Apr so randomly and only digital release as well knowing she has an older fanbase.

No, it won’t. The album was released a year ago, all her die-hard fans got it, all the casual fans got it and all the people who are even slightly interested in her have listened to it and downloaded individual tracks, so it’s doomed. The only way it can enter the top 10 (which would mark the first top 10 hit of the era) would be for urban radio, pop radio and rhythmic radio to synchronize and playlist it massively in the first 2 or 3 weeks and this seems unlikely to me.

Of course “End of Time” will not reach #1. It’s a fantastic song & one of my favorites from the BRILLIANT “4,” but it really doesn’t have a mainstream appeal (thank goodness).

to begin with, let me state that I love Beyonce but i have to be honest.
If these comments are anything to go by, she is doomed.
If you can’t see how important Mathew Knowles was to her success you are just as blind as Star Jones was when she married Al You Doing.
Is Mathew shady? Yes.
Did he intentionally put Kelly, Solange and Michelle on the back burner for the sake of B’s career? Yes
Is he good manager? YES- but only when it comes to Beyonce.
Beyonce for so long has billed herself as this in charge business woman but as we can see, as soon as daddy was taken out of the picture things went tits up.
By no means am I saying acts aren’t allowed at least one flop album, but I AM saying that 4 was poorly handled because Mathew wasn’t around.
Let me break it down for you.
1. Run The World should NEVER have left the Dream’s studio. The lyrics were basic and blatantly trying to mimic the success of Single Ladies and the world had already heard the beat a hundred times.
2. When ROC saw RTW wasn’t doing well, they should have put out End Of Time and put together a video for it (its not as though she couldn’t have done it, remember when she claimed to have shot the videos for B’day Deluxe edition in a week).
3. She started her promo too late. I remember being mad that she was in France a week before the album came out in the US. If she was smart, she would have embraced Youtube and done a week by week video session talking about each song from the album. So a song for each week until the album came out. That would have gotten people buzzing like mad.
4. Why did she release Best Thing I Never Had as the second single when Schoolin Life was sitting there begging to be put out. Did she forget it was summer or something. If she had sent that song to radio before the album dropped she would have attracted far more many people than she did.
5. Where was your television special? Year Of 4 was a bunch of bull and you know it. She should have taken a leaf out of GaGas book and done a huge special. Why not call or B Walters and have a ‘tell all’ chit chat like she did with Sway in the B’day era.
6. And this one goes for her career as a whole- less is sometimes worth more than more. Why does she feel the need to release 8 videos per album. Look at GaGa and The Fame Monster. She only released 3 videos and that album still slayed.
Beyonce needs to broaden her horizons and build a team of creatives whose job it is to feed her ideas because her videos are so bland and boring and they dont help the songs.
Example:’
For the End of time video I want to be served Mortal Kombat teas. I want to see her catwalking through the Serengetti and dutty whining on a mountain top. I want to see a fierce dance breakdown under a lightning sky and her leading a troupe of high fashion Amazonian models through the desert on their way to find her one true love.

Who leaked it? BTW as soon as the demo got leaked she should have released the real HD version on itunes and later on Radio. She was too laid back and sloppy.

An album leaking doesn’t mean s*** if an artist has a loyal and determined fan base. Lets not forget that I Am and Bday leaked too and they sold very well, as did Drake’s Take Care. IN FACT, Gaga leaked Born This Way herself and it sold 600k (at full price) in its first week.

She should have put promo behind the realease of RTW ( the single ) becasue it was an okms ong it just needed more promo behind a really risky song. Then put the video a week after and not a month. Then she should have put I Miss You as promo and then release EOT right before the album came out. Then put out the album for a month then put out Party & LOT. Then when summer is ending put out Countdown. Then wait a month or two then put out I BTINH in the fall and put out 1+1 in the deep winter & then close out with Schoolin’ Life. She obviously wanted a short era so this schedule would’ve been perfect. She didn’t really care cause she was traveling and s***. Call me crazy but I like the album 4 and “End of time” is one of, if not my favorite song off the album. Bey has had success and sometimes u win sometimes u lose but overall as a fan I like 4. Whether or not it reaches number 1, I doubt it considering the reception this album got. I hope it does though. Its a cool song.

Best Thing I Never Had should have been a top 10 hit if it had only recieved the right promotion. Same with Countdown. If she does End of Time the right justice it could crack top 10. Beyonce took control in the 4 era, and tried to repeat what Matthew did to fix his mistakes with B’Day, but the methods didn’t work this time. In the B’Day era, they released an edgy, instrument-heavy record, Deja Vu, which didn’t catch hold, then released a monstrously popular and catchy anthem-song, Irreplaceable, and a video anthology to save the project. They did the exact same thing here with RTW followed by BTINH and a bunch of videos. The problem here is that those two songs are the two weakest songs on the album AND nothing was gonna change the fact that the public weren’t feeling either. She SHOULD have released EOT or Countdown, and then ease her way into such an edgy-sounding record as RTW. At this point, I say just do small shows here and there while working on the next album. 4 has critical acclaim. Unless you’re gonna release a video for EOT and REALLY promote it, why bother. No one faults you for focusing on your growing family while you prep for the next project.

I hope it at least goes top ten since some people insist on using the Hot 100 as the indicator of whether an album flopped or not. I guess those people would have to stop calling 4 a flop. At the end of the day it will really be up to Beyonce. If she does promotional performances and releases a video while its getting radio airplay than it will probably be a hit. If she doesn’t combine those 3 simultaneously then it probably won’t be a hit. It’s not rocket science. So far she seems content with album sales and considers 4 a hit on that basis and therefore is not much concerned about getting a Hot 100 hit. So we’ll see if she even bothers to push the single.
Maybe Beyonce doesnt really care about “4” that much anymore, but to say she’s content with her worst album sales to date is really pushing it. lol

It’s amazing how much weight the Billboard Hot 100 is given. While important, it really isn’t the “be-all end all” as it is portrayed. The BB hot 100 represents whatever type of music is “hot” at the moment. Beyonce is an r&b artist so her songs are going to naturally do better on the r&b chart than they will on the hot 100. The hot 100 is currently being ruled by dancey pop tunes by artists like Katy Perry and Ke$ha. An r&b artist’s success should not be judged by success on the hot 100 alone. The r&b chart should carry just as much weight for an R&B ARTIST. Just as a country artist would be judged by how well they chart on the country chart, and techno music how it charts on the Dance/ Club Play, etc. etc.
There is where the single from ‘4’ have been winning. With “Best I Never Had” reaching #4, “Party” staying at #2 for weeks and weeks, and “Love On Top” staying at #1 for weeks. “Countdown” also ranked at #12. It would be nice to have all singles chart #1 on the billboard hot 100. However, not doing so doesn’t mean you’re a “flop” by any measure. You guys take this all too seriously.

@CRAMPED, Records sales in general have gone down/decrease every year. Most artists with longevity and great sales previously in their career aren’t selling how they use to it’s just something that all artists have had to adjust to by relying on other projects besides record sales (like endorsements, touring, movies, etc.) Beyonce recorded a mainly R&B album, she knew it was not her most commercial album but wanted to have the artistic freedom to record what she was inspired to record and felt she earned that right. Beyonce may be a perfectionist but she is also a realist and has not put all of her eggs in one basket. Like I said, I don’t think Hot 100 hits was her priority and all things considered, she should be pleased with the fact that she had the highest selling R&B album of the year, debut at number one with 300K+ sales, and was able to go platinum in less than 6 months in the US alone and is still releasing singles, several top ten R&B songs (one sat on the top of that chart for over a month). All that was probably enough to make her content based on today’s sales climate, especially for R&B artists. Her real fans will support her decision to focus less on commercialism insteading of jumping on the bandwagon with those recording and releasing the latest sound just to try to assure a high position on the Hot 100.

BTW, of all the releases thus far, I think EOT has the most potential. Agree that fans should support the single 4/24. Like I said, I think it will do well with promo, airplay, and a video.
#1 – Beyonce is not managed by Jay-Z or Roc Nation, and until you fools insisting to the contrary can provide absolute proof — not speculation or round-about theory — but real proof; I refuse to indulge you on it. Jay is Bey’s husband and occassional collaborator, and while I can believe that he probably gives her unofficial career advice, I see no evidence that suggest he has any professional rank with her. Where Beyonce went wrong was in managing herself. *No* big star should be doing that. It’s her job to perform and be presented with deals; not to make them herself, or to arrange her own itinerary. That’s too many hats for one person. The ‘4’ era was mishandled. There was no “Crazy In Love” or “Single Ladies” on the album, but several songs had the potential to be sizable hits, but Beyonce’s ‘team’ (herself) didn’t formulate a real plan to adequately promote the album. They just randomly threw meat at the ceiling hoping that something would stick and not much did.
#2 – To the person who said that Beyonce’s fans should be like Rihanna and Gaga’s fans, because (according to you) they set some kind of bar for supporting their idols or whatever…man shut up. This person went on to reference that mass download day that Gaga fans ‘organized,’ but failed to acknowledge that the song they rallied behind didn’t even go top 20. Why in the hell do Beyonce fans need to follow *that* example? What good did it do? Beyonce fans supported her *album* by buying it up enough to ensure that it a) went to #1…b) stayed in the top 10 for 2 months…and c) sold over a million in the U.S., which is concerned a hit by today’s standards. So what’s this really about? That those same fans didn’t flock to iTunes to spend chump change buying singles from an album that they already owned? Are you kidding with that s***? No bet. Beyonce fans buy her albums, they don’t need to waste change and hard drive space buying the same s*** twice. Just goes to show that despite how sloppy her handling of 4 was, her fans were dedicated enough to have her back and not let her ALBUM flop. Therefore, Beyonce fans DON’T need to take any examples from any other fan base, so kill that noise. You sound dumb.
#3 – Beyonce does not need to come out with some ridiculous, forgettable, by-the-numbers “pop/dance” song that will hit and run, and age disgracefully. Aren’t you all sick of that thumpa-thumpa b******* yet? How old are you, 12?! Let the likes of Katy Perry and Rihanna do that corny pop crap. Beyonce went against the grain and, yeah, she slightly suffered for it…but in the end, I have more respect for the sound of ‘4’ than I ever would have if she had put out her own version of that turn-your-brains-off “We Found Love”/”Part of Me” crap (which she could have easily done) that would have appealed to high school suburbanites who weren’t her fans, but would have pissed off her core audience AND exiled from black radio. I have no need or desire for Beyonce to Dr. Luke herself up on some uber-obnoxious 3 minute track catered to gay white boys, their f** h***…and the wannabe-white black folks that try to hang with that crap. Rihanna is fake enough to do some dumb s*** like that. I don’t need or want it from Beyonce.
#4 – I agree that the ‘female empowerment’ theme is played out, but who in their right mind would suggest that she (or anyone) would stop recording love songs? What the f*** is she supposed to sing about? Getting drunk? A grown ass woman like Beyonce shouldn’t resort to singing about non-issues like ‘party rockin’ or whatever to appease you sexless virgins who’ve never been in a relationship, and therefore can’t relate to songs about love. F*** outta here with that s***. She’s 30, not 15. Her subject matters aren’t an issue. If you want Rebbecca Black, then go listen to Rebbecca Black.
#5 – Despite the fact that none of the ‘4’ singles were earth-shatteringly successful, according to Billboard, any song that cracks the top 40 is considered a ‘hit.’ Three out of her four singles from the album did just that, so…hush. The whole point of singles is to promote/sell the album they’re from. Since ‘4’ sold over a million copies in the US and basically did the same amount of business that albums with stronger hits did in this overall weak sales climate, I fail to see how this album is a “flop.” If an album can sell without the presence of strongly performing singles, then nothing is lost. In fact, it’s actually more impressive. What I find more embarrassing is when an album scores multiple top 10 and #1 singles, yet still fails to sell 2 million copies in the U.S. That doesn’t make sense. Who the hell wants to be a ‘singles act?’ Where’s the money in that?
#6 – No, EOT will most likely not go to #1, or even crack the top 10. The buzz about the song has grown cold and there was too large a gap in between it and the previous single. And in them meantime the album has run its course. She’d be lucky to go top 20 with this. It could have been a big hit, but she waited too late to serve it up.
Point 4 is all TGJ asked for.She ruined EOT’s chance to smash and she did the same thing with LOT,she could have send it to the radios before the performance,make a great video and premiere it with hype.

And it actually kind of makes me mad, because i’m a Bey fan and i want her to succeed and have a hit from this album, but she just doesn’t seem to care about this album or its songs anymore. Now let’s see if she can pass through all this mess and come back stronger than ever. Nobody knows what’s going on in Beyonce’s personal life, so stop making up sh*t.
Oh and about “End Of Time” reaching #1, with a huge support from the radio stations and smart promo, it would. But I’m pretty sure it won’t. All I’m expecting for the end of this era is a high budget video for EOT, some performances at some big events, a few interviews and a world tour.
I think Beyoncé did what she wanted to do. Even though this era wasn’t as successful as her others, I still want her to end up it with proper promo.
