Nicki Minaj Slams Lady GaGa Comparisons (A Must See!)

Published: Tuesday 10th Apr 2012 by Sam

Like many, ABC’s Nightline see the similarities between Pop forces Nicki Minaj and Lady GaGa.

However, for the ‘Pink Friday’ femcee, they’re comparisons she wants none of. Peep her “interesting” appearance on the hit show below and pay particular attention to point 5.10 and beyond…

Minaj: (Do comparisons to GaGa offend me?) No. Irk me? Yes. First of all, I’m a rapper. I’m from Southside, Jamaica, Queens. What are the similarities? Let me turn the cameras and ask you.

Interviewer: Wigs and…

Minaj: Wigs? Every female in this game wears wigs.

Interviewer:…the over-the-top costumes…

Minaj: Over-the-top costumes? Ehhh…try again.

Interviewer: It does make you mad!

Minaj: No. It’s just getting tiring. In the beginning I was like “ok, it’s cool. Haha, when they get to know me they’ll understand”. I mean GaGa is a fantastic artist. She’s paved her way. She’s opened her own lane. I feel like I have my own lane. And we never cross…ever.

Oh Onika. No.

In being keen appreciators of her “movement”, it’s also imperative to keep it 100 at all times. This being one of those times.

For an artist who -for all her success- is still “establishing”, this strand of “diva” is a no-no. A simple “GaGa is great, but I have my own lane” would have sufficed. But that long, drawn-out “dramafication” just resulted in Nicki looking more pressed than a pancake.

I mean, there’s keeping it real and keeping it “professional-real”.

Instances such as this remind that regardless of what Platinum plaques sit on her wall, Minaj is still “media-green”. Here’s hoping this serves as a learning experience when she watches it back.
