Rihanna‘s nasal neigh is often confined to ruining her own songs. However, on occasion, the model will lend her “talents” to bulldozing the hits of others. Case, point, Bob Marley‘s classic ‘Redemption Song’ – which has come to serve as one of her repeat offences.
Having already released a recorded version of the track three years ago, the 24 year old tried her hand at it live when performing at EIF’s ‘An Unforgettable Evening’ cancer benefit this week.
Watch the criminal showing below…
Given the theme of the event, it’d be unfair to give anything but kudos for her actually taking part. However, that is where the applause starts and stops.
For, yet again, she sounded like a castrated cat. No bueno.
What is decipherable, though, is why she remains one of Pop’s most frustrating acts. Having re-watched the behind the scenes from her ‘Where Have You Been’ video, a particular soundbite struck me:
“I never (usually) have time for rehearsals, because my schedule is so busy”
Talk about shading oneself. Isn’t “rehearsing” what her schedule should have been filled with to begin with?
A fact which re-emphasises the true issue here: Fenty is putting in minimum effort, while hoping for maximum gain. And yet that #1 album continues to eludes her. As does the ability to deliver “live”. A shame, as she actually boasts an interesting “tone”, yet is lazy & reps all that is wrong about today’s “model” of success (pardon the pun).
Horrible performance.
