New Song: Tank – ‘Lonely (ft. Chris Brown)’

Published: Tuesday 10th Apr 2012 by Rashad

‘One Man’ maestro Tank is certainly not playing this time around.  Readying faithful fans for his next LP ‘This Is How I Feel’, the crooner felt it appropriate to enlist another R&B heartbreaker Chris Brown for the track ‘Lonely’.

The latter, as fans know, is preparing ‘Fortune’ – the follow-up to his critically/commercially acclaimed 2011 LP ‘F.A.M.E.’.  Now it seems to be in the good fortune of both soulful crooners that they would collab over this silky R&B groove.

Reuniting after their fan praised features on Brown’s ‘F*ck The City Up’, get into the new new after the jump:

I liked it…. until Chris starts rapping. *sighs* He kills me with that! The song was such a smooth r&b track and then he had to ruin it with his agressive rap verse! He always sounds so angry when he raps. Like he’s spitting all over the damn place! Like I could LITERALLY picture him spitting all over the mic in the booth. SMH.

I’m not against having a rap verse on a r&b ballad but the rap verse needs to fit the song. Someone like J. Cole or Drake, who know how to change up their flow to fit a song, would have been perfect for a track like this! Chris always has the same loud, agressive flow on all his tracks when he raps. Whether he’s rapping about being in a club or being in the bedroom he always sounds the same. If he is going to insist on rapping on his records he needs to work on changing his flow to fit the song. I’d prefer it if he just didn’t rap at all to be honest though. *shrugs*

I can’t believe Tank is actually cursing on his songs now! Lol! I honestly think he’s trying to appeal to the younger demographic and seem more ‘hip’ but it sounds lame to me. I literally laughed when he said ‘C. Breezy in the building’. It just sounds cheesy coming from him to me because I’m pretty sure he doesn’t talk like that.

Not only is Chris Brown not a “crooner”, his crooning isn’t soulful, because soul is not his genre
