Along with higher ratings, many anticipated season 2 of The Voice would bring with it the chart return of Christina Aguilera.
Yet, the curtain fell on the latest series without a morsel of new material from the diva.
Fret not, though. For, it appears the 31 year old has been diligently working on music on the low.
Writing on Twitter today, hitmaker Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins confirmed that he laid down new tracks with the ‘Dirrty’ songstress earlier this month.
The ‘Lose My Breath’ producer joins the likes of Cee-Lo Green and DJ Premier as high-profile names tapped to contribute to the album – which will serve as Aguilera’s 5th traditional release (and 7th overall).
With season 3 of The Voice set to hit screens this Fall instead of early next year (in a bid to go head-to-head with the X Factor US), we can only hope her big comeback is being earmarked for the same window.
What’s more, with old rival Britney set to be active and on-screen during that same window, what better way to capitalise on the publicity and inevitable comparisons than with a new project?
