Jermaine Paul Named ‘The Voice’ Winner

Published: Tuesday 8th May 2012 by Rashad

After an intense battle of teams under the mentorship of Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton, season 2 of NBC’s top rated reality talent show ‘The Voice’ has finally crowned its winner.

A fan favorite from the very beginning, former Alicia Keys backup singer Jermaine Paul will reign as this season’s champion and take home the show’s hefty Universal Republic Records contract and $100,000 cash prize.

Congratulations are in order!  We certainly look forward to hearing what this voice will be cooking up in the studio!

WOW! I am just speechless! Congrats are in order for Jermaine!

I am just glad that Tony didn’t win!

  4. MRDIVABITCH May 8, 2012

Chris Mann or Tony Lucca or Juliet Simms should have won (In that order)
This guy can’t even breathe properly for singing, extremely overrated
Once again, the little idiots and musically ignorant retards choose
That’s why these kinds of competitions are b*******, as they are judged and voted for by people who don’t know S*** about singing.

    where’s last year’s winner?

    exactly.

  6. Gilberto May 8, 2012

I have never heard him singing, but if he were a backup singer of Queen Keys then he’s definitely an amazing singer.

Honestly I’m not a hater but if that’s the only thing left about AI that I like is that no contestant is allowed to have any connections within the industry much less have had a recording of any kind in the past. I think the Voice has too much leverage when it comes to those kind of stipulations.

When you have contestants like Javier, Jermaine, and Tony who have connections and a professional music background with some A-list artists, that gives them more of a lead way for those others who had to start from scratch. It just defeats the whole purpose of the term “competition”…

I think after this season I am done with all singing competitions. Christina needs to leave this show and get back to what to finishing her new album and give her fans what they want. That’s her only problem is that she waits too damn long to release new music granted it’s all quality but still…she waited too long to release Bionic and look what happened.

They need to stop letting these flops win. No one is going to support his black ashy behind when he releases an album.

I remember when Jermaine Paul opened for Alicia Keys at Madison Square Garden about 2 years ago. I’m sure that he will continue to grow as a live performer.

I agree with the last comment about it not being fair letting someone win who has ties to the music industry already. I do not watch the voice but I do know last years winner was a guy named Javier, who I know for a fact had a record deal and a song back in 2003 that I actually have on my ipod now. This would be like letting a professional choreographer win dancing with the stars.

I was so surprised tbh. I thought Juliet was going to take it. Congrats and good luck to Jermaine. A lot of you are asking where’s Javier, but honestly, where are the last 3 winners of American Idol as well? These reality shows wins don’t guarantee superstardom.

When I saw who the four finalists where, I WAS expecting him to win it, so I’m NOT suprised. Congrats to him. I think he’s going to work really hard to become something big, I don’t know if he’ll succeed, good luck to him there, but he’s been complaining all through out the show about how he’s been in the spotlight too long and that it was his turn to shine. Wasn’t too turned on by his R Kelly performance, but once again, Congrats.

I’m Shocked TBH. But whatever 😐

This is not true of American Idol…. there have been 2 for sure that I know of that were background singers that made it to the top 10 on American Idol

  15. LaLa May 8, 2012

^Yep… the one i remember is Carly. She an album prior Idol. & the female backround singer (forgot her name) but she has no neck. #noshade.

  16. JER May 9, 2012

    who?

  17. Nick May 9, 2012

Sorry but he sucks (2 me), his attitude is terrible!!!!!! Nobody gonna support him, next

  18. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) May 9, 2012

ARE YOU KIDDING? He and Tony Lucca should have both been eliminiated before the semi-finals!! I thought Chris Mann or Juliet would win! Besides, this guy is a poor man’s Javier Colon, why don’t the viewers want any diversity? Maybe Christina should have kept Jesse Campbell after all.

  19. YoursTruly May 9, 2012

Question…now that this gentleman has won what happens next? I mean where is the winner from last year? And where is the winner from XFactor?? The only show that specializes in a actual career and album from winning is American Idol

  20. TrulyItellyou May 9, 2012

Yourstruly// I understand what you are saying about the last year’s winner…

but X Factor finale wasn’t that long ago give her some time to record an album for crying out loud.

It’s like you, fastfood let’s whip up the record for me to listen attitude makes the industry crappy.

I’m really happy for Jermaine – he was the soul behind AKeys songs for years and at the beginning of the competition I could sense that although he knows he’s talented there was also the doubt that he’d only ever be a back-up singer. I love his voice, he’s easy on the eyes and I hope that big things happen for him.

On another note the veiled comments on this & other boards irks me to no end. But if it makes people feel better here is my belief about this show: there will probably NEVER be a Black female winner nor another Black male winner at this point. I didn’t hear a peep out of anyone about the complete lack of diversity on AI this year – out of all their cross-country searching they couldn’t find 1 Black woman this year?! GTFOH.

    Anyway – congrats Jermaine!

@ the-truth, actually we don’t need you to buy an album, you must be jealous of him..LOL

  23. irene46 May 12, 2012

oh, please. i thought they were all equally great in their particular genre of music. i was pulling for jermaine or juliet.

i’ll be shocked if juliet doesn’t blow up. she was completely awesome.

a couple of contestants came in second on a i and are huge. i don’t think jennifer hudson even came in second and she’s rollin’ big time.

    good luck to them both.
