To many, Iggy Azalea should be 2012’s breakout star considering her explosive 2011 debut with ‘PUY‘.
Unfortunately for her, that ‘title’ is now shared by fellow Femcee Azealia Banks and the rapturous Rita Ora, both of whom have seen their international stock rise within the last few months, by way of heavy media coverage and favorable radio play.
Now, Azalea has spoken to ‘The Breakfast Club’ about her label situation, her feud with Banks and her feelings toward Grand Hustle boss T.I.

On why her deal with Interscope fell through, she explained:
They didn’t want Tip to be an ongoing part of my deal. They just wanted him to produce one album and me and Tip were like, ‘No, it has to be in there so it’s the whole thing’.
As much as we’re into Iggy, we can’t say we’re surprised at her messy ‘Interscope’ situation.
For, much like many of today’s acts, Iggy has been forced out into the public without a clear plan as to how she intends to take her art ‘to the next level’- assuming a viral smash would guarantee instant success.
A viral smash, that could have become a chart smash had she played her cards right and waited for the right deal to come along, instead of getting into bed with T.I. who- as we’ve stressed before- has no experience scouting and grooming successful acts.
In fact, if we’re going to keep it 100, T.I’s reputation when it comes to new acts should have been enough to scare Iggy off, considering the ‘on the shelf’ status of most of Hustle’s performers.
So for her sake, we hope she gets out while she can and heads over to a serious label soonish.
If not, she may spend the rest of her career regretting signing with a team who signed her on the basis of hype and not her potential. A shame, considering Iovine and co seemed so interested before.
