A renown shade dispenser, Madonna re-affirmed her uncanny ability to dish out that dark stuff on the opening night of her ‘MDNA World Tour’.
Backed by a troop of dancers, the Pop royal put on a live showing that saw her claws sink deeper into megastar Lady Gaga. For, confirming the snowballing speculation, the 53 year old did indeed perform a medley mash-up of ‘Born This Way’ and her song that she claims the former was modeled on ‘Express Yourself’.
And so as to ensure there was no confusion about her dig being a “dig”, the clearly exhausted star followed with ‘She’s Not Me’ from her 2008 effort ‘Hard Candy’.
Peep the action below…
Pressed much?
Some will put this down to Madonna courting controversy or merely stating the “obvious”. However, echoing the sentiments of one of Maggie’s many rivals Mariah Carey – it’s like she’s been bathing in Windex; her antics are so transparent. So much so that any humour in them evaporates when the situation is dissected beyond the surface.
What do we mean? Well, given the contracts and legalities which govern the music industry, Madonna couldn’t just perform ‘Born This Way’ at the click of a finger. She’d need to secure licensing from Team Gaga, who’d ultimately get paid each time the song is performed by another artist, or used for an ad campaign, so on and so forth. Hence, the only person truly in a position to laugh here is…Gaga.
For, here you are -also on a sell-out world tour-getting paid for your idol dragging you through the mud in a sad bid to exorcise her artistic insecurities. And all the while you keep silent collecting your coins. Read this way, who here is truly “winning”?
