Excerpt from Billboard’s ‘Why Mariah Carey Released Three Version Of Triumphant Single’:
Previewing the multiple versions of the single — co-written and co-produced by Carey, Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox — reveals the diversity of musical genres expected on her untitled 14th album, tentatively due in March 2013. According to Carey manager Randy Jackson, releasing the three different versions of “Triumphant” speaks to her ability to cater to multiple audiences and radio formats.
Confirming ‘Triumphant’s status as a buzz single, here’s hoping the decision to release the LP in 2013 doesn’t eliminate the buzz it was set to enjoy had it been launched this year.
In saying that, with a number of projects lined up for release in that year, Camp Mimi could be readying a media onslaught which will see her push her upcoming movie and LP at the same time. Thus, killing two birds with one promo stone.
On the flip side, one does have to wonder why she needs so long to complete the project when she’s been teasing fans with it since 2011.
