Pound The Alarm: Nicki Minaj Edges Closer To UK #1

Published: Sunday 12th Aug 2012 by David

“These old b*tches better change their dentures/When I get in the game they gon’ be playin’ the benches”.

Initially billed as a matter of default, it’s clear Nicki Minaj‘s reign over Female Rap is showing no signs of faltering, held in place by her ever in tune fan base and their support of her material- on and off the charts.

Case in point? The UK chart run of her latest single ‘Pound The Alarm’ which is well on its way to reaching #1 after rising on its Top Ten tally once again.

After spending last week at #11, the cut rises 3 spots to #8 in its 11th week of release. This, marking the highest spot the song has enjoyed on the tally which saw it rise 118 spots in two weeks back in July.

Extending her lead as the highest charting Female Rapper in British chart history, the cut’s favorable position comes without any physical promotion employed to push it, with the starlet currently on her ‘Pink Friday World Tour’.

A tour, which has rendered it impossible for her to promote ‘Alarm’ herself until she touches down in the country for a three day stint in the next fortnight.

On an album’s front, her sophomore set ‘Pink Friday:Roman Reloaded’ shimmies three spots to #12 nineteen weeks after its launch, while her debut effort ‘Pink Friday’ continues to hold court in the Top 100.

For, despite being released 90 weeks ago, it spends this week #85- making her the only Femcee to enjoy two LPs in the chart where Young Money comrade Drake rose 8 spots to #40 with his latest effort ‘Take Care‘.

Raggedy Anne take note.
