Lauryn, Queen Latifah and MC Lyte are indeed more influencial in terms of their artistry, but as far as the mainstream goes, every new female rapper takes a page out of Missy’s, Foxy’s and Kim’s book. They solidified a specific image and brought new themes to the table that male rappers couldn’t tackle. Not that the females you mentioned are any less important, though.
