President Obama Weighs In On Nicki Minaj

Published: Monday 10th Sep 2012 by David

With two #1 albums and a number of lucrative opportunities to her name, Nicki Minaj has seen both she and her brand placed under the heavy eye of the media’s gaze in recent years, with varying results.

Renown for her layered creative style and celebrated for overcoming a difficult childhood, last week saw her throw herself into contemporary political debate, when she spawned a lyric in support of Presidential candidate Mitt Romney via her gay alter ego Roman Zolanski, here.

Today, Romney’s rival President Obama has weighed in on Minaj’s alleged support of the Republican and the aforementioned ‘Roman’ during a rare radio interview.

Details below…

Speaking to Orlando’s Power 953, he explained:

“I’m not sure that’s actually what happened, I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that, but she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.”

Hit the 0:40 mark:

Minaj, a former student at New York’s prestigious La Guardia High School of Music & Art, delivered the line in a remix to Kanye West‘s ‘Mercy’ featuring Young Money boss Lil Wayne and is yet to respond to the President’s remarks.

Remarks, which arrive two months before she hopes to land her third  US #1 album with a reworked edition of her April 3rd ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded‘.
