Rihanna Enters 2013 Guinness Book Of World Records

Published: Friday 7th Sep 2012 by David

It may be hard to believe, but next year marks the 8th anniversary of Rihanna‘s arrival to Pop music.

No longer the Island Pop Princess we came to know her as in 2005, the singer/producer has gone onto become one of her genre’s more powerful forces, going toe to toe with acts she once considered influences.

Now find out why she’s being celebrated by the 2013 Guinness Book Of World Records, below…

With 47.57 million digital tracks sold in the US, she is now the highest selling digital act in the country, kicking dust in the faces of efforts made by the  revolutionary Lady GaGa and Pop icon Beyonce.

Indeed, despite the fact she has never enjoyed a US #1 album, the ‘Styled To Rock’ producer’s singles have oft compensated for this loss, with smash hits like ‘We Found Love’ and ‘Umbrella’ making her the only artist in UK chart history to enjoy #1 singles in every between 2007 and 2011.

With an accomplishment as commendable as this one, it’s only right we congratulate those responsible for turning Rihanna’s tap water into Petrus.

These being the writers, producers and marketing experts who found a way to cloak her unavoidable lack of talent with premium Pop music, which will undoubtedly stand the test of time…even if her credibility as a performer doesn’t.

We only hope accolades like the above will encourage Riri.1 to spend less time in the club and more time in rehearsal, honing the skills she’ll need if ever faced with the threat of her own formula.

A formula- albeit genius- could be applied to any artist with a sizable budget.

A formula, which fails to recognize that while countless #1 singles may look nice on a PR front, they really count for nothing when the artist behind them fails to do them justice live.

This we’d say, might explain why the singer’s fan base seem a little shaken by the arrival of another Jay Z approved starlet, who could easily duplicate or even better records like these if the powers that be put their minds to it.

Because let’s be honest, it’s not as though her acclaim has ever been down to raw unshakable skill, but rather statistics, her aesthetic and ‘dramas’ that hold more value than her talent ever will.

Case in point?
