New Song: Ke$ha – ‘Die Young’

Published: Monday 24th Sep 2012 by Sam

Pop rebel Ke$ha has sat out of the limelight for the better part of a year. That all changes with the arrival of her hotly anticipated new single ‘Die Young’ and its housing album ‘Warrior’ (due December 4th).

Due on iTunes tomorrow, the Dr Luke and Benny Blanco produced cut premiered tonight.

Does it live up to the hype? The answer awaits after the jump…

A mega-smash in waiting! It’s clear all involved have tapped into something that works exceptionally-well here.

Indeed, the cut  boasts anthemic, euphoric, and most important, memorable hooks; all of which are propped by edgy, yet “current” production. Put simply, this is near Pop-perfection in today’s age. Who’d have thought ‘Tick Tock’ Ke$ha would still be bringing “it” and then some three years later? Kudos are most certainly due.

    Flo Rida — Feeling Good.

    • jessie September 24, 2012

omg!!! i thought the exact same thing as soon as the beat started!! this def sounds exactly like floridas “good feeling”

    • JER September 24, 2012

In every way. This is catchy as hell, but it sounds like every other song by these producers so I’m clocking the stans crying “innovative” right here and now

  2. yolo September 24, 2012

Sounds like Taio Cruz “Hangover”… lame

  3. A.MILIAN September 24, 2012

I would really like that cover to be the album cover instead,,,, love her though

  4. JJFan1990 September 24, 2012

I love it!!! Sounds great with earphones in!! Definitely gonna be a hit. Ke$ha is Rihanna’s only true threat. Both have an ear for great pop music. Can’t wait to see them duke it out on the charts.

  5. Peter Griffin September 24, 2012

The chorus is good but everything else is a generic mess.

  6. Vandrea September 24, 2012

    Didn’t even bother to listen, I don’t need to. It’s a miss.

Gap toothed b**** at the to of the page.

  8. MC September 24, 2012

Its okay….better than “tick tock” or “we are who we are” s***……

    • prettigurlrockD September 24, 2012

Not really. Tik Tok is a lot catchier.

      • MC September 25, 2012

I am talking about generic mess and production wise…

  9. Back2Business September 24, 2012

Sounds recycled, but It will do good on the charts because it’s a catchy dance song.

  10. @091094 Twitter September 24, 2012

This song is gonna be my guilty plessure, I dont really listen to much generic eg: Flo Rida, j lo, kesha, carly ray, will i am, etc, but I Kesha just takes it to the max and tells it how it is, i was in love with tik tok, that s*** was infectious, but yeah I think this will chart well.

  11. number1k9 September 24, 2012

I think “Die Young” is a good effort. But it is way too much like classic Ke$ha… Like where is the Rock influence we’ve been waiting for, for so damn long? ? ? Anyone?

It also seems more fit for a lead single of a re-release than a album’s lead single. Still IMO beat wise Dr. Luke can do no wrong (well most of the time). beat is on fire, once again. Glad to hear Ke$h doing her sing-rap again!

So it serves its purpose. Catchy song that I would want to hear on the radio . From a 1st listen I already like it more than P!nk, Mariah Carey, and Xtina’s comeback singles! from 2012!

    • MELODY2012 September 25, 2012

I’m also waiting for that Rock influence

  12. Peter Griffin September 24, 2012

Wait, I thought she was reviving rock…sounds like it!

  13. JJFan1814 September 24, 2012

Most of you bum b****** don’t know a successful pop song if it slapped you in the face. You all were rooting for Xtina’s Your Body, when it clearly lacked the commercial appeal to be a major hit.

This song will out perform Your Body. Watch…

    • Lax September 25, 2012

      @JJFAN1814 I heard that, lol!

  14. nazeem September 24, 2012

Not a very good song for first single..quite catchy but sounds kinda lame

    • Lax September 25, 2012

Hopefully this will be a grower.

  15. jessie September 24, 2012

this beat exactly the same beat for florida’s “good feeling” song her team is really smart they used his beat recycled it and threw some very catchy lyrics and a great catchy hook and there u have it folks a hit!!! this song will def do very well!! kesha needs to be more original and come up with groundbreaking music!! not this…

    • Lax September 25, 2012

Perfect case of “Cat & Mouse” MJ Played it and played it well,
He had a canny way of seeing things and then visualizing
it in a much bigger and more creative way, and making it
work for Him, and no one would be the Wiser.

  16. Monstarebel September 24, 2012

  17. Gilberto September 24, 2012

It sounds like any other dance song that came this year. NEXT!

    • JER September 24, 2012

    • Lax September 25, 2012

      @GILBERTO, True.

  18. Beyonce’s Weave September 24, 2012

I really like it, sounds edgy, daring and has an anthem feel to it. Cant wait for it to rock the clubs, bars and parties.

    • Lax September 25, 2012

      Yessss.

  19. imusicjunkie September 24, 2012

Well she used little to no autotune so I can tolerate it! Pop charts will eat it up,

  20. Remey September 24, 2012

    YAAASSSS!!!!!

This is what I’ve been waiting for! You can hear her vocals getting a bit stronger in the chorus. Ke$ha has her place in Pop music. She doesn’t have to be a Beyonce or Pink. She makes infectious music that you just can’t get out your head.

She is going to give Rihanna a run for the singles this era like Katy did. If she gets behind a strong PR front, the album will do extremely well. The 70s rock influence is obviously fused in the single. If this is anything to go by, this era is going to be pure genius. The 70s rules anthemic songs, which has much appeal to this generation.

    • mr.m September 25, 2012

      FLOP A+

    • Lax September 25, 2012

Yessss and Rih love’s getting a run for Her money.
stick and stone might hurt but a run for my money
is just what the doctor Ordered for Rihanna, its like
testing one strength aganist another and it is going
to be On and in a good way. When this many artists
drops music around the same time this is the best
time ever for them to shine if they have got some
shine to come forward to the stages and airways.
It’s isnt about who’s good, better are best it’s all
about who has the catchy song, and who will
excel to the top of the charts, and it’s On. May
      the Best single Win.

  21. christinastherealtalent September 24, 2012

Sad thing is songs like this will instant hits because people like JJ Fan don’t know what GOOD music is or sounds like. Where’s the rock and roll and less auto tune Kesha promised us? I was looking forward to hearing how she would sound on that genre but I guess she was pulling a Gaga and overyhyping her s***.

That album cover is tacky as s*** too and the whole kaleidoscope theme being used for album and singles covers was over years ago.

People need to start being more creative with their music because at the end of their 15 mins of fame, they won’t have anything to show for their music except a.bunch of popcorn hit songs. They won’t even have the album sales to reflect their longevity.

As long as we have people like JJ Fan and Monstarebel, some singers and their music will never evolve. Rihanna hasn’t evolved (but her image has), Kesha hasn’t evolved, Katy hasn’t evolved. You see where I’m going?

I love artists like Christina, Alicia, Brandy, Pink, Jojo, Monica, Tamia, Brian McKnight, etc…because they’re artists that you’re still into 10 years later and have songs that will still have quality, substance and meaning. They constantly evolve with their music and their art and don’t have to rely on gimmicks to sell or even appeal to anybody.

Sad thing is these days the only demographic whose buying this s*** we call music are the teenagers and queens.

I’m waiting for music to return to its original format to where you needed to actually have “talent” on order to get your break. And by talent I mean: singing dancing writing producing etc..people who actually take their time to make decent quality music not just shove something down everybody throat just so they stay relevant.

    • JER September 24, 2012

B**** nobody asked you what music you like HAVE A SEAT GURLFRIEND you are just mad your faves last album was 3 years behind the times and flopped

    • prettigurlrockD September 24, 2012

you seem to hate any artist except christina.

    • prettigurlrockD September 24, 2012

Not everyone has to have a powerhouse vocal tho. If that’s what you mean by “talent”

    • RYK101 September 25, 2012

honey pleaaase!! Alicia Keys and P!nk (I LOVE her) have been releasing the same f****** album for years, i see no evolution

and you are talking about creativity when Your Body is as generic as it can get, i mean i love that song, but it was completely manufactured to be a top 40 hit, PERIOD

don’t try to make other artist as deep when all of them are keeping with the same formula that made them BIG and you can’t blame them, why risk something that is so huge?

    • Lax September 25, 2012

@CHRISTINA,,,,,While you have what you like in
music and you can say that JJFAN & MONSTARBEL don’t know what good music is because they are Rihanna’s fans, Deery it does not matter if they are Rihanna Fans are Hogan’;s Goat fans it’s still all about the Music. While i love XTINA and i truly Despies anybody including you who think that xtina is it and all the other artists are waisting their time, no matter how their music might be called “Microwave” pop corn or other. Unless you lives under a rock your ass would know that it takes all kinds of music and all genres of music to make up the Music Realm. Some people love blues, pop, rock an role, jazz, country western, etc. That’s what i am talking about Fans like you and many of the Haters combs the woods for artists and have Negative things to say and that is why people like you and the likes of you who are always downing Others will never get no further then the starting line.
      PS
You keep on downing Others and while you are at it you had better pray that Gaga’s Monster’s don’t take the top off of things when xtina drops Her music.

  22. Honey CHILD please September 24, 2012

WEll i don’t know about the rest of you but i for one am not restricted to one genre. It’s a feeling you get when a song comes on. I like Ke$ha but i don’t think this is a smash. I happen to like most of her songs, but this aint it boo!

    • Lax September 25, 2012

@HONEY CHILD,,,i heard that, i to love music
and it’s the beat, catchy melodies and the hooks
that keep me rocking back and forward and from side to side.
      ps
I can even chill to country western if the time is right.

  23. Jay Jay September 24, 2012

    LAME!!!!

  24. JER September 24, 2012

So Kesha makes another predictable dance song and it’s a mega-smash, pop perfection. But when Rihanna does it, it’s a microwaved hit? GURL BYE

    • prettigurlrockD September 24, 2012

it’s because rihanna hardly wroites her music and she makes albums every year.

      • JER September 25, 2012

So people who make albums every year and artists that don’t write their music are useless microwaved trash? Just because someone writes a s***** album every few years doesn’t mean they are any good.

Take Keri Hilson. She writes all her own music and only releases every few years. All garbage. Let me start a round of applause for all the flop strangerbitches just because they take years to write garbage ALL BY THEMSELVES. Good for them!!!!

Simple child please read a book because you know less than nothing abut music history. By your INFALLIBLE standards, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and a list I can’t even finish are nobodies.

      • Lax September 25, 2012

Rihanna could eaisly be called the “Hook’s Queen”
and to be sure of what i am saying is the Fact that Eminem has sold over 80 million units of music and His largest
single ft. rihanna has gone platium 17x and no matter how many might try to talk rihanna and her singinh skills doe=wn Rihanna delivered on the chorus, and i know that pisses
        your little cloudy brains off.
Rihanna have got it in writing and sealed with a Kiss that some of the Heaviest hitters in the Game which She’s featured on has broken out all over the Universe like a cold sweat. and if you don’t believe me then check out
“We Found Love’ and how it has topped charts all around the globe and then check out those platium certifices and stop LYING on Rihanna because Homie don’t play that.

    • Lax September 25, 2012

When the final book is written , there will be only a small
tibit about who wrote what, and what’s the purpose in
saying you wrote the song , to find out your little sister,
cousin are you pais some else to write the songs for
you while you get the credit.
I will say that it’s not all about the writer, but the Bad ass who can deliver on the lyrical content, and no matter how you tries to judge Rihanna because she don’t write all of Her songs its still all good, because you see Rihanna can deliver on the melodies, hooks and chorus.

  25. Auntie_Jackie September 24, 2012

It’ll be a hit, but it sounds boring as s***! Can this type of music die a fast f****** death? I’m so over it. People in America are going to look at this b******* a few years from now and be like – ___ – WTF! It’s like the disco era. Ri-freaking-diculous!

Rock was slaying disco in the 70’s (which is why that era is now called “classic rock”) but Disco was wildly popular. Now…where is disco? Oh, wait, it’s all of Lady Gaga’s piece of s*** music. Dance music, the re-birth of disgusting disco! (Barring Donna Summers, of course)

    • JER September 24, 2012

B**** don’t even try to come for Disco. If it wasn’t for Disco, Hip-Hop would never have gotten its early shine on with DJs and MC’s mixing soul and disco music. B**** get your history together and while yer at it get your life

    • prettigurlrockD September 24, 2012

Disco was amazing. The bee gees, donna summers, MJ all made it worthwhile.

      • POP ROYALTY ( RUDE BOY) September 25, 2012

        i agree 😀

  27. CzarM September 24, 2012

I don’t even need to hear this because I already know it’s awful. Ke$ha hasn’t come out with no one song that wasn’t garbage, and I predict that this is just another trash can in her lot.

    #not-interested

  28. RYK101 September 24, 2012

The most ironic part is Sam praising this song, but he says Rihanna is generic and labels her music as “fast food”, take a seat Sam.

Anyway I don’t see how this is different from her other stuff, she was claiming this new album was going to be more rock and idk what else but this is soooo generic and safe, anyway, it’s catchy and it will be a hit, it’s waaay better than We R who we R, but it’s still ok, nothing groundbreaking

    • Lax September 25, 2012

And Rihanna has that tag on her that says her music
is microwave and rihanna has sold mor singles and have more Hits then any one else and these clowns are still trying to call her music generic well she’s selling and with 5-6 songs along selling over 40million along i say let the show began.

  29. XoMoDe September 24, 2012

    This.s***.needs.to.stop.

I refuse to even listen to this. Ke$ha is a live action example of the music business turning to s***. There’s nothing good about her or what she does. Hell, she even makes Rihanna look “credible” by comparison.

    • prettigurlrockD September 24, 2012

hi hater. She’s not the best singer but she makes good music. It just isn’t your cup of tea. What the hell is so bad about her music? It actually has uplifting “be who you are” type messages. But since you seem biased you’ll never get that.

  30. MsThing485 September 24, 2012

    Ain’t no way in hell…

  31. Hush September 24, 2012

    • POP ROYALTY ( RUDE BOY) September 25, 2012

*Dead* *Dead* *Dead* *Dead* *Dead* *Dead*

      😆 😆 😆 😆

  32. Rancor September 24, 2012

I can’t stand to see non talent celebrated. Ke$ha has no business making records. She’s straight up and down horrific. You can grab any drunk blond co-ed off any beach in America and have them do what she does and get the exact same result — because what she does is stupid and requires no thought.

You know what the disgusting thing here is? Ke$ha’s auto-tuned, talky-talk, euro trash pop ass is signed to the same label (RCA) as Alicia Keys, Miguel, Brandy, R. Kelly, etc., etc., and we already know that they are going to sink millions into ensuring that this crap becomes a hit that people hear to hell and back whether they like it or not, while the aforementioned acts will struggle for label support.

Quite frankly it’s offensive when circus clowns like Ke$ha hit while artists 50x more deserving languish.

    • Lax September 25, 2012

Reallllllly Well the poor folk like Me
don’t deserve to be having such a
hard time trying to stay above water
      either but it’s happening.

  33. BitchICan’tEvenSpellWelfare September 24, 2012

*Dead* @ Sam describing this song as “edgy.”

There is NOTHING “edgy” about this song. This is the same generic, “microwave” music that you accuse Rihanna of making (while her music is 10X better IMO).

Oh well, another smash single for Ke$ha.

  34. BIG DOGG September 24, 2012

    What’s new?

A dance song about losing your virginity to a white hunk on a spring friday, while they’re taking shots and dancing to a frog’s farting–like electro sound.

  35. prettigurlrockD September 24, 2012

It has to grow on me. For now, it’s nothing to write home about…

  36. theman September 25, 2012

What happened to her rock influenced music? This is very generic.

  37. christinastherealtalent September 25, 2012

To all you haters I am not pressed about Bionic. I still blast that album to this day. I have been riding for Christina for 13 years and will for the rest of my life because she makes quality music with substance. I know youre going to argue Bionic wasn’t any of the above but it was fun album for her not meant to be taken too serious but it did still have its personal songs.

I listen to anythig that is not top 40 because anything that IS top 40 all sounds the same. Recycled beats, cheesy ass lyrics, over the top gimmicks and so on.

    • POP ROYALTY ( RUDE BOY) September 25, 2012

good for your ears , i started to do the same 2 weeks ago and it is actually good 😀

    • Lax September 25, 2012

@CHRISTINA,,,I love xtina, and despies yo ass, and if you want to keep supporting xtina good for you …but why don’t you save yourself and stop clicking on to these microwave
pop corn chicks post and keep your heart rate as normal as possible and keep your heart rate normal because i don’t hate on no artist i just have strong opinions when the likes
of you and folks like you tries to put all music into the same basket, babe that will never work.

  38. Kyle September 25, 2012

Typical Ke$ha material but it’s an undeniable hit. She is definitely my #1 guilty pleasure.

  39. Realest September 25, 2012

Blah, heard this song before over and over..

  40. commanderofthedancefloor September 25, 2012

    ok this is my reaction,

start of the song, ok i can hear a guitar and then the dance part kicks in and i am like what?? i thought she was going full rocker mode.

but i dont blame her she is a sensible artist and sees that she can not solely bring back any genre no one artist can with few exceptions i think she will have rock songs on her album but i do not think she will release them as singles, so that she will still appeal to the pop crowd. i do like the song though it has me dancing i just really want to hear the rock songs she has been working on.

on another related note, i love pretty lady because it is so different i really wish that she had put that on her album.

  41. the real xoxo September 25, 2012

its so annoying when artists like ke$ha and rihanna talk about their music as if it is something original, meaningful and they put on such strong images and edgy styles when the music is generic and forgettable.

    • sweetnothings78 September 25, 2012

Its just a boring a*** song, all music sounds the same now- noi heart no soul and no ‘realness’ its so sad

    • Lax September 25, 2012

Generic and forgettable music is helping many to
pay their bills, and while small minded people
worry about if music is forgettable many of the artist
like Rihanna is living life right on.
      Ella, ella, ella.

The same f***** up society that gives the likes of Ke$ha hit songs is the same f***** up society that makes the cast of Jersey Shore and the Kardashians TV stars.

Has society and pop culture EVER been this bottom feeding before?

  44. mido September 25, 2012

NO LIKE ! Hangover and good feeling mix . FLOP

  45. nickalus Randle September 25, 2012

sad, it is cute, catchy, BUT come on man, this beat & style is just getting old….BRANDY NELLY FURTADO KEYSHIA COLE ALICIA KEYS AZALEIA THEY ALL TRYING to bring music back, lets support them !!!!!!!!

  46. Miguel September 25, 2012

    Another smash hit for her

Plus that cover is hot, she looks very good, also a very creative look

  47. Magina September 25, 2012

Same ole recycled Dr.Luke beats (aka Good Feeling), and same ole auto-tune fromkesha…nothing new….probably a hit…..but thats all kesha strives for.she has no artistic integrity or substance!

  48. POP ROYALTY ( RUDE BOY) September 25, 2012

I’m So sick of this Trashy B**** with her trashy Music.

and i’m Sick of Dr. lukewarm recycled Beats !!

didn’t this b**** say her album gonna be rock ?!!!! so what the f*** is this mess above , i swear to god the dance music is dying as well. they all sound the same to me.
this s*** sounds like it could have been a bonus track from “animal” !!

and the “trashy-lookin’ party girl” act is so 2010 dear ke$ha 🙄 , to oblivion you and those LMFAO clowns.

  49. This is GARBAGE September 25, 2012

I can’t with the double standards.
Christina,Alicia,Brandy, and Ciara get flack about their new singles and people call this garbage “Epic”?
This is garbage and it only proves that music now is a dying art.Yeah its ok to want to shake your ass but then we have heard the same, sound, song for the last couple of years.
This dance music crap needs to go away.
I mean the same people who try to go hard at Beyonce,Christina,Alicia are calling this amazing. From now on I’ll never take alot of you serious when it comes to music. Obviously you know nothing about it.
There are worse things than flopping. Putting out crappy music that lowers the brain cells is on the top of that list. This is why music is under selling now. Yeah downloads are a big part of it but music with no substance or feeling is a huge part also. Pink,Beyonce,Alicia,Christina might make mindless music from time to time but at least they can sing and make you feel some type of emotion. All I can picture when I listen to this is gays, glow sticks, clubs, parties.
Then again with this generation. They can have all the book smarts in the world but lack common sense, taste, dignity, focus, class. Thank god the early 2000’s babies are smarter. God help us when the children from 1991-1999 come into power. But if you’re an 80’s baby co signing this s***…smh

  50. That B*tch September 25, 2012

It will probably be a chart smasher but I hear nothing new or interesting here. Im so tired of hearing the same recycled s*** on the radio.

  51. OMG A SITE FULL OF C**** September 25, 2012

I f**** with this song!!! its soo catchy!!!

  52. PrettigurlrockD September 25, 2012

JER, yo ass is garbage. None of Keri’s songs are garbage so have a seat. Lol.

  53. Dollar$ign$kills September 25, 2012

Another #1 hit for Ke$ha!! I love it, but I would have liked it to be more rock and less dance. But I get where she’s coming from. Going full rock would alienate her fans who love her dance music

haha WORD. this has smash written all over it.

don’t worry we are gonna get our rock s*** this era. i CAN NOT wait to hear what she does with all her collaborators. iggy pop? wayne coyne? black keys? ben folds? f***** forget about it! so exciting. to all the haters, if ke$ha is so s***** why does she have f****** legends and legends in the making clamoring to work with her?

      so excited.

    it’ll be a #1.

that said i am not in love with it yet. i understand the need to release something similar to her previous stuff. they simply can’t run the risk of alienating her audience right out the gate. i KNOW there is gonna be some crazy rock inspired s*** on this album though because you KNOW iggy pop and wayne coyne (flaming lips for those of you that don’t know) wouldn’t hop on a track that sounds like this. i wouldn’t take this as an indicator of what the rest of the album is going to sound like. the song is definitely anthemic. its big, its brash and its ke$ha. and its hardly microwaved pop trash.

lets bring on warrior. i’m ready for more.
