Though her detractors would have it downplayed, Nicki Minaj holds the record for being Pop’s highest charting Female Rapper, recently becoming the first Femcee to score a #1 Dance single sans a featuring act.
Now, in celebration of her record breaking success, ‘Oath’ belle Cher Lloyd has spoken in the star’s favor…declaring that she has ‘changed Pop music‘.
Her comments below…
Via Pop Crush:
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Nicki [Minaj], she’s like No. 1 for me. I really feel like Nicki brought that vibe in. No one was doing what she was doing, and then she came in and it was kind of one those things where people were like, ‘Woah. She just changed pop music.’ And she did! There’s no denying it.
She is someone I definitely look up to. I admire how brave she is. She’s kind of got that attitude like, do what you feel like doing, be who you are. I love that, and I love how she incorporates that with her fans as well. I can appreciate that because I’m a fan, and it makes me think, ‘Well if Nicki says she can do it, I can do it.”
While Minaj falls short on handling singles and videos, there’s no denying the impact she is making on a Pop front.
For, not since the ‘peaks’ of Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliott has a Female Rapper served as a real threat to her Pop counterparts, in the way Minaj now holds records not even the likes of Rihanna can boast.
Here’s hoping that as her profile rises, Nicki will deliver visuals and album campaigns worth of her hype, talent and commercial capabilities.
Capabilities, that FOX are hoping to capitalize on once ‘American Idol’s twelfth season swings by.
