And the fallout continues.
After maintaining a day’s silence following the video which confirmed their feud, American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have begun to publicly address the drama.
Taking to Twitter moments ago, Minaj appeared to have a meltdown of sorts when speaking on the icon, going as far as to insuinate that she is being racially targeted. The Young Money’s star’s broken silence comes after Carey phoned in The View today to tell Barbara Walters her side of the “story”.
Nicki’s Tweets after the jump…
Granted no one but the parties involved know what “really” happened, it’s safe to say it’s time for Nicki to turn the volume down. Less because she’s “wrong” for barking back, more because she was “wrong” for barking in the first instance.
It’s safe to say Mariah hasn’t lasted this long industry on the basis of her voice alone. She clearly knows how to “politic” with the best of them. So, in the event she say “didn’t like Nicki” or her presence on the panel (which, let’s be real, is a bit of a farce. Albeit an entertaining one), it’s entirely plausible that she would chip away in hopes of provoking a reaction. Or at the very least to establish who the head-chick (with credentials to match) is. Yet, Nicki acting out the way she did sees everyone in the equation winning BUT her. Mariah (who comes out relatively unscathed) and of-course the producers who are adamant to steal the thunder of rival shows ahead of Idol’s TV comeback in January. And with Nicki sending out Tweets like this, we can’t see how support will swing in her favour.
Of course, there’s every and increasing chance that this was a premeditated PR stunt; or at least genuine drama that will be spun into one. In that case, everyone’s winning. After all, we’re all talking! Weigh in below…
