If new reports are to be believed, 2012 for Beyonce will be looked back on as the calm before the storm.
Details after the jump…
The ever-reliable Associated Press are reporting the 16 time Grammy winner will be the headliner at the Super Bowl XLVII Half-Time extravaganza at New Orleans’ Mercedes-Benz Superdome on February 3rd 2013.
Slated for an official announcement on Wednesday, the diva’s spectacle succeeds Madonna’s showcase this year and marks the second time the 31 year old has performed at the ratings juggernaut. Indeed, 2004 saw her soar with the US National Anthem at that year’s games, which took place in her hometown of Houston.

While we’ll wait until Wednesday before officially throwing our confetti in the air, we can’t contain our excitement for this. For, having had reliable word about the likelihood of this for some time (and hinted you too), it’s great to see it actually coming to fruition.
Watching Madonna’s epic spectacle, yet weak performance had us itching to see what a able and capable act would be able to do against a backdrop of the same magnitude. More specifically what “a Beyonce” could and would do. Now, so it seems, we’ll receive our answer come next Feb.
What also is clearly on the horizon is new Beyonce music. Historically, next to no acts who’ve taken to the Half-Time stage do so with retrospective material only. Put simply, it looks like King B will be launching her 5th album campaign on the biggest of stages.
Needless to say, exciting times!
