It was only a matter of time.
Nicole Scherzinger is cashing in on her X Factor popularity and re-launching her Pop career.
Hoping to reverse her so-so solo fortunes, the former Pussycat Doll today announced the first single from her second studio album.
Details after the jump…
Taking to Twitter early this morning, the 34 year old confirmed ‘Boomerang’ as the lead release from the as-yet-untitled LP. And with the finale of the X Factor set to take place in a mere matter of weeks, it appears the singer is racing against the clock to have the song and its video in circulation by then. For the video shoot is…today:

Nicole has always been quite the conundrum in that, for all her talent and beauty, the masses haven’t yet gravitated toward her solo efforts. Indeed, while she’s had some truly tragic tunes (see: ‘Baby Love’, ‘Try With Me’, ‘Whatever You Like’), she’s also served up winners such as ‘Wet’ and ‘Right There’ – none of which have done much of anything beyond a few European countries.
Here’s hoping her new material and visuals are oven-hot, with a savvy promo push to boot. For, beyond it being a shame if her talent goes to waste, this could also be her last legitimate “shot”.
