Rihanna: “People Look At Me And See Dollars’

Published: Tuesday 13th Nov 2012 by David

Though she may still be without as US number one album, there’s no denying Rihanna‘s status as one of Pop’s strongest cash shows.

Yet to release an album that didn’t sell a million or more US copies since her sophomore effort, the chart topper’s countless number one singles, tours and endorsement deals have ensured her superiors over at Roc Nation make bank, over…and over and again.

Now, in an interview for GQ Magazine’s ‘Men Of The Year’ edition, she has spoken out on how her lucrative career has made it hard for people to see or perhaps understand her art.

Her words below…

On how she feels she is perceived:

“Sometimes a person looks at me and sees dollars. They see numbers and they see a product. I look at me and see art. If I didn’t like what I was doing, then I would say I was committing slavery. ”

Her comments arrived before the November 19th launch of her new album ‘Unapologetic‘, and months before she embarks on the ‘Diamonds’ World Tour, no more than two years after her ‘Loud’ World Tour generated a cool $90 million upon its June 4th 2011 launch.
