Ne-Yo may be keeping the party going with new single ‘Forever Now’ (the follow-up to chart smash ‘Let Me Love You’), yet the singer-songwriter has approached its accompanying video from a much more premium perspective.
Embracing the cinematic, the moody clip fuses the star’s trademark performance art with a compelling storyline. Peep the clip, the latest to be lifted from his ‘R.E.D’ album, after the jump…
Solid.
Yes, the lighting was again too dark (see: ‘Let Me Love You’ video). And yes, there was a whole lot going on (arguably too much). However, we can’t but tip our hats to Mr Smith for once again striving to visually serve up something other than the norm. Indeed, this felt like a much tidier and less convoluted take on what he was trying to achieve with much of the visual output from 2010’s ‘Libra Scale’ LP.
Now, we just hope some of the album’s Urban offerings are also given the video treatment; as, contrary to the impression the present singles have given, ‘R.E.D’ is very much an R&B affair – one filled with cuts that could also fair well commercially (see: ‘Miss Right’).
