December 4th marks the day pop starlet Ke$ha brings her sophomore album ‘Warrior’ to battle for Billboard’s top spot.
Indeed, to say the ‘Die Young’ diva has already made a killing afront Billboard’s Hot 100 would be an understatement as the album’s lead single has been a mainstay aboard the ranking’s upper half for most of its chart life. However, like many her contemporary, the singer’s success on the singles front has come at an inverse of her album’s sales performance.
Barely shipping platinum over two years since its debut, Ke$ha’s introductory set ‘Animal’ saw its singles take big bites out of history books while its parent album barely made a bark. So tell us: Are you willing to help its successor sing a different tune?
That Grape Juice’s Favourite ‘Warrior’ Tracks:
* Thinking Of You
* Die Young
* Supernatural
* Dirty Love (ft. Iggy Pop)
That Grape Juice’s Least Favourite ‘Warrior’ Tracks:
* All That Matters
* Only Wanna Dance With You
That Grape Juice Rating: 3/5
Conclusion: ‘Warrior’ has a clear agenda to mature a sound and artist many assumed was “seasonal” – and manages to achieve this to a satisfying degree.
Still, Ke$ha excels most when being unapologetically Ke$ha. Rebellious, edgy, and dripping with jaw-dropping metaphors.
