Maybe by way of all the ‘noise’ that disturbed her brand this year, it’s become quite easy to forget that Nicki Minaj – whether you like it or not- is one of Pop’s highest selling contributors.
Sure, though the shoddy handling of her sophomore LP ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ has made it easy for her naysayers to deny this, the fact remains that with 1 million copies sold world wide since April, the project is the only Rap album released this year to peak at #1 is as many markets as it did.
Markets, which include the UK, US, Canada and Japan.
Now, despite its poorly managed promo campaign, her single ‘Pound The Alarm’ has now sold over 1 million copies in the US alone.

A testament to the Rapper’s commercial pull, ‘Alarm‘ has now exceeded sales of 1 million US units since its June 12th 2012 release.
Peaking at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100, the cut’s success follows that of its predecessor ‘Starships’ which edges closer to sales of 1 million in the UK but sits pretty with sales of 3.5 million in the US. Frustrating, as one can only imagine how much better both singles would have done if given the push afforded to 2010’s ‘Superbass’.
However, if the global sales of ‘Reloaded’ and the success of its singles are anything to by, it would be foolish to write Ms. Minaj off as a ‘flop- as many a detractor has found themselves doing.
For, if she’s able to move 1 million worldwide and millions singles in the US alone without the benefit of an effective promo run, imagine what numbers lay in wait for her when she does get it all together.
