Watch: Brandy Covers Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’

Published: Sunday 23rd Dec 2012 by Sam

After years of sluggish performances, 2012 brought with it a song Rihanna could actually sing well – ‘Diamonds’.

And while her solid live showings of the track have been welcome, nothing tops hearing an actual singer flow over the Benny Blanco helmed hit. Indeed, songwriter SIA proved this with her rendition last month and now Brandy does too.

Recorded recently backstage at a show, The Vocal Bible served up a sermon on how to sing your song better than you.

Who knew “epic” could be relayed in 22 seconds?!

Haunting delivery and trademark adlibs make this yet another stellar showing from Brandy, one which has us salivating for material like this on her next project. For, as much as we love the all-R&B aura of ‘Two Eleven’, the singer’s voice boasts a Pop sensibility that we’re keen to see her tap into more (we’re sorry, Sis, but ‘Human’ was the business).

Put simply, B-Rocka sounds superb on almost any beat, hence a little genre flirtation could see her cast her comeback net further.
