As sales of her sophomore album, ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded‘ edge nearer to global sales of 1.5 million, the album has enjoyed significant gains on the Billboard Charts– secured hours before her stint on ‘American Idol’ aired on the 16th.
Details below…
8 months after peaking at #1 on the Billboard 200, the Rapper extends her lead as her genre’s strongest consistent seller by rising back into the Rap Top Ten- 41 weeks after release.
Rising two spots from #12 on that chart, the album also enjoyed gains on the R&B/Hip Hop chart and now occupies the #15 spot, outselling Chris Brown‘s ‘Fortune‘, The Throne‘s ‘Watch The Throne’ and Lil Wayne‘s ‘Tha Carter IV’, and is now on course to surpass Frank Ocean‘s ‘Channel Orange‘ which dipped 6 spots to #13.
Meanwhile, on the Dance/Club Play Songs chart, her infectious jam ‘Va Va Voom’ hit a new peak position of #11, rising 4 spots from #16 while her Alicia Keys led ‘Girl On Fire‘ spent another week #13, continuing to show no signs of leaving the Top 20 after hitting the charts 19 weeks ago.
However, in heading back to ‘Va Va Voom‘, this week saw it hit digital sales of 763, 554 units in the US- helped in part by occasional ‘plays’ during ‘Idol’s Season 12 launch, but has a long way to go before matching sales of its older sister ‘Starships’– which now boasts sales of 4,027,815 units.
This, extending its status as a Quadruple Platinum selling single after its Hip Hop follow up ‘Beez In The Trap‘ was certified Gold for sales of over 500,000 units on August 14th 2012.
