Fans sweet on a certain Willow Smith have been invited to the treat that is her latest offering ‘Sugar & Spice’.
Smith, best known for her upbeat singles ‘Fireball’ and ‘Whip My Hair’, has whipped up quite the chatter about ‘Sugar’ as it, despite what its title may suggest, isn’t exactly the bubblegum pop fans have come to know of the self-proclaimed ’21st Century Girl’.
Ringing in an impressive vocal display, ‘Sugar’ certainly showcases a maturity in the growing songstress. But, is its subject matter too mature? You tell us:
“Inject my soul with darkness…”
“I write circles in the sky while I’m drowning”…
Wow! It’s hard not to be impressed with this, even if the subject matter is arguably inappropriate for the young singer. Quite reminiscent of her famous mother Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s music, this Radiohead sampled song also boasts hints of Rihanna‘s ‘Diamonds’ in its delivery. If this tune will be on the tracklist of her ill-fated Roc Nation debut ‘Knees & Elbows’, is now unknown.
What is known is that this ‘Fireball’ is certainly a ball of talent. We, and the emo kids of the world, look forward to more. Drake probably loves this.
