Iggy Azalea Denies ‘Grand Hustle’ Exit

Published: Tuesday 12th Feb 2013 by David

She’s talented, beautiful and boasts more unique selling points than all of her contemporaries combined, and now- after her explosive arrival two years- Iggy Azalea readies the release of her debut LP this year.

A fact that all of her fans- including us- are excited by, the project’s release has found itself belaboured with some criticism- centered in what some might call a questionable business move by Iggy. A move, which came in the form of her signing to T.I’s fruitless ‘Grand Hustle‘.

However, following murmurs that she had parted ways with the music group, the Rapper has set the record straight via her personal Twitter page.

Her words below…

Just when we were getting our hopes up.

For, in keeping it 100, it’s safe to say Iggy’s dealings with ‘Hustle’ have done nothing to showcase her groundbreaking talent and sound in the way they need to be.

Think about it. While 2012 saw Interscope keep Azealia‘s buzz alive via countless videos and a content led campaign, Iggy’s biggest breaks came not from her own ‘Grand Hustle’ but from rival music groups, these being Cash Money (Tyga‘s ‘Closer To My Dreams Tour‘) and Roc Nation (Rita Ora‘s ‘Radioactive Tour‘).

Indeed, while we’re in no way downplaying the little success the group has had, it is worth noting that it has yet to spawn any major acts on its own merit, with B.O.B‘s chart reign spearheaded by Atlantic and not ‘The King’.

A fact, the UK’s Chip will be all too aware of considering his deal with ‘Hustle’ did all of nothing for his ‘London Boy’ EP.

As admirers of her work, we hope Iggy inks a deal with a label with the financial means and marketing know how to present her as a premium entertainer, worthy of going toe to toe with even the strongest of her Pop counterparts.
