Singer. Songwriter. Model. Actress.
For Rita Ora, the last year has seen her long running efforts to dominate the UK charts come to fruition with the release of her debut album, ‘ORA‘.
However, what isn’t so well known is just how lucrative her run in the market has been both she and her camp thus far, and how sales generated by the project will no doubt see no shortage of support from the US arm of her record label, Columbia.
Details below…
In the last twelve months, Rita has sold a mind blowing 1,303,000 units in the nation- making her the only British act to have launched in 2012 to surpass the 1 million units sold mark.
Released by The Official Charts Company , her current reign as Britain’s leading Pop Princess has seen her surpass sales moved ‘Call My Name’ beauty Cheryl Cole in the last year- helped in part by her first three singles, all of which moved 100,000 units in their first week of release.
What makes the starlet’s numbers all the more impressive though, is that they extend her lead as Roc Nation’s strongest debut act, as she now holds the record for being the only performer the label to spawn three #1 singles from a debut #1 album in a market outside of the US.
A feat, that will no doubt give her camp ample reason to push her US introduction later on this year, as she readies the launch of her debut album in that market. A market, which has already seen her claim to Dance #1s with the Drake penned single ‘R.I.P’ and her Double Platinum cut, ‘How We Do (Party)’.
