‘Pick Your Poison’ producer Diplo has opened up on the R&B classic ‘Climax‘, the jam he produced for ‘Dive’ star Usher.
However, while enlisting the chart topper to work on his latest album ‘Looking For Myself’ may have seemed like an easy to decision to make considering his credentials, Diplo has revealed that he feels Usher took a risk when joining him in the studio.
His explanation at the 2013 ASCAP ‘I Create Music’ Expo below…
Co-written by ‘XOX’ singer Elijah Blake, the Grammy winning number no doubt stood as the highlight of ‘Myself‘, and hope its critical and commercial reception inspires Usher to cut a new album from the same experimental cloth.
For, while recent years have seen him win with EDM singles, it’s important to remember that one of the highest selling albums of all time was his ‘Confessions’– R&B to its core.
Usher is beyond this dance crap.
F*** all that. Usher’s producing soul mate is Jermaine Dupri. No one touches those Usher/JD records. Followed closely by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Babyface. Diplo, will.I.am and Max Martin are Usher in “I wanna fit in” panic mode. It’s embarrassing.
