One year after critics questioned her decision to sign with T.I‘s ‘Grand Hustle‘, ‘My World’ Rapper has made the necessary move to rectify that mistake and signed with Def Jam records!
Good news below!
Sure to afford her the treatment an act as strong as hers deserves, Iggy announced the deal on Twitter today- sharing:
This deal now sees her join Elijah Blake, Rihanna and Frank Ocean at the label, all of whom bid adieu to former executive Joie Manda who left the label to pick up a similar role at Iovine’s Interscope.
Sure to take her UK smash hit ‘Work‘ to similar heights in the US, this deal comes after the Rapper signed to Mercury Records (also under the Universal Music Group) and Turn First Artists, the team responsible for Rita Ora’s meteoric rise to success in the last year. A rise, that saw her move over 1 million units in the market since February 2012.
As far as Hustle Gang goes, we can’t but commend Iggy for keeping it light and bright with regards to her seemingly friendly departure from them and hope the pressure of losing acts to more organised labels forces them to push their current roster as well as Roc Nation and Cash Money push theirs.
For, while she says she’s still with them, her decision to move elsewhere says far more…and far louder.
