With 5 million albums sold worldwide and a ‘fifteen minutes of fame’ that now spans eight years, it’d take a liar to downplay the strength of Brand Nicki Minaj.
Now, one year after becoming the 8th female artist of color to nab two or more US #1 albums, the ‘Bought The Bar‘ Rapper has confirmed reports that she has signed onto star in her first feature film this year, billing the experience an honour during an interview with Z1079 last night.
Watch her share details on the movie, writing her third studio album and the dangers of social media after the jump!
Hit the 18 minute mark!
With Nicki pulling on ‘The Re-Up‘s sound to craft album #3, it’s safe to say it will stand head and shoulders above ‘Reloaded’, which was a lot of fun but lacked the cohesive variation that scored ‘Pink Friday’ a Grammy nod.
As far as the movie goes, we can’t wait to see how its release forces her name further into mainstream culture and further cements her status as Rap’s strongest contemporary competitor…when the likes of Jay, Wayne and Kanye are out of the mix.
Here’s hoping her continued success encourages the MCs that follow her to use the talent and tenacity she employed to turn her mix tape water into Hollywood wine.
