It still stands as the highest selling Rap album to hit the country in the last two years.
Now, one year after its April 3rd launch date, Nicki Minaj’s latest LP ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ has continued its impressive yet unsung chart run in the UK!
Details below…
As of today, the US #1 album has spent a total of 60 consecutive weeks in the UK’s Urban Top 40- selling enough copies week on week for the last 60 weeks to have never left the chart.
Extending her lead as world’s most commercially potent Rapper (male or female) after Drake and Lil Wayne, her long running success in the market has seen her outsell now makes the only artist in British chart history to spend this many consecutive weeks on the chart, after she became the 8th female artist of Black descent to score two or more US #1 albums.
As it stands, the last 60 weeks has seen ‘Reloaded‘ sell more consistently than Drake‘s ‘Take Care’, Rihanna‘s ‘Talk That Talk‘, and Beyonce’s ‘4’– all of which enjoyed lengthy runs on the same chart but failed to sell enough units week on week to threaten Minaj’s new record.
What makes this feat all the more impressive today, is that it was achieved without the benefit of a #1 single or the Grammy nominated star’s physical presence- with its promotional campaign extending only to two or three televised appearances and two tours- one of which being her sold out ‘Pink Friday: Reloaded’ arena tour.
A tour, which saw its 02 Arena date generate £1,116,140 upon selling out minutes after tickets became available for purchase.
